Monumental news coming next week, according to IGN

According to the latest IGN PC podcast, there is a monumental announcment relating to the PC. They talk about it at around the 30 min mark.

Nothing short of a new Wing Commander or X-wing/Tie Fighter game will satisfy me.

Probably something lame like the features of DirectX 11 or the pricing model of Battle.net.

The only thing monumental I can think of wont be an announcement of a game, it will be something to do with how PC games are played as a community and brought together.

Given how long they've kept us waiting- that would be potentially interesting.

I wouldn't find it monumental though... Things were getting a little stale with Half-life 2 by episode 2... Especially since Valve won't acknoledge the fact that the Combine AI SUCKS.

The level design glossed over this issue in Episode 1, but utterly failed to cover up thebad AI in episode 2.

I predict that valve will still be blind to this issue in Episode 3- which is the primary reason I'm not as hyped for it as many people are.

But, I do still want to see how the current Half-life storyline ends.

Diablo III coming out this year would be monumental lol. Even a demo of D3 would be up there lol. Heck maybe even a new character finally!!! The last one we got was fake and probably took them 3 months to do.Kurushio

What do you expect, all the HL2 episodes are expansions, not full fledged new games. They still run off the same engine and AI scripts except that you get some new graphical tweaks here and there, new maps, continuation of the plot in HL2, etc. If you want better AI you'll have to wait for HL3 which at the rate things are going won't be coming out until 2015.

As for me, I'm dying for some episode 3 news. The game's development cycle has taken nearly twice as long as the previous two episodes and yet we haven't heard anything about it. So I hope that this will finally be some news about HL2:E3 but sadly I doubt that it's anything like that.

nah... not gonna happen. THQ doesn't own the ip.... which means an indefinite stand down for Volition. and it's not Freespace 3 if it's not made by Voilition.

my guess is that it has something to do with Onlive.... like, for instance, its cancellation. :D

No One Lives Forever 3!!! That's what would be monumental for myself Monolith's Upcoming First-Person Action Game

Monumental? Hmmm can't think of anything else but Episode 3 and maybe the sequel for Portal. Other than Valve, maybe Bioware will announce the release date of SW:ToR, but than again that isn't "monumental". We shall see, I'm quite excited about it though.

I want my Baldur's Gate 3, Planescape Torment 2 and maybe Icewind Dale (never played this series maybe I'll go treasure hunting soon), or practically any old Interplay game, they made absolutely THE BEST RPGS out there.
