Portal 2, and the entire god damn stalker series tried playing it so many times and it's so god damn clunky and broken. And no I'm not gonna install a bunch of mods to make it playable :P And the 1st Witcher, talk about a dreadfully boring game with things that destroyed the immersion (villagers with the same face standing next to each other, 15 sec loads to a small room).

While not specifically a PC franchise, the Mass Effect series is seriously overrated. Fusing bad, clunky game-play with terrible writing/storytelling and dumbed-down RPG elements does not make a good game. I honestly see nothing redeeming in this series and its popularity escapes me. -wildflower-

oh yeah, this.

*Sigh* I'm more than likely gonna derail myself into a rant, but whaever.

Mass effect is and has always been overrated. Oh, so because is a space opera, something we've never really seen in a video game, it's great? That's preposterous.

Their writing is one of the weakest(if not THE weakest) writing that BW has ever created and their designs and storytelling are greatly inconsistent.

ME1 had extremely weak shooting mechanics(you rarely, if ever, needed to do anything more than shooting), underdeveloped characters, very forgetable exploration and badly designed Interface, but it a had a good story and dialogue.

ME2 was a hole other story, The game had so many plotholes(and do NOT let biodrone texasgoldrush tell you otherwise!) that if you were to make tangible it could be used for a hentai movie, and you know what's really funny? No review I saw( I didn't saw that many though) broad those plot holes, they kept going on and on about how fantastic the writing was( when it wasnt).

it's entire gameplay spinned around it's level design, and it was a bad level, cause you couldn't really do anymore than "run, take cover, shoot, run, repeat how many times necessary until next conversation", all of which was made even stronger by the fact tha your health depleded so fast.

And it was this game that started BWs horrible new philosophy: "if someting doesn't work, get rid of it"

starting with the inventory.

Why? Because of dumbasses with absolutely no pacience got lost? Ok, how about.... I don't know... Fixing it,making It more intuitive and functional rather than removing it in it's entirety? No? Ok.

Ok, it was a mistake to make so many planets to explore and fill them with almost nothing. How about... Making less, but giving them more content? Or... Perhaps making them smaller and them a little more content? Or both to save time? No? That's out too? Ok then.

Are you gonna at least make the places fairly big an explorable? No? You're gonna make everything a giant corridor with branches? .... Well alright.

So on.

Tools(or Biodrones, or fools, o however you wanna call them) LOVE to go all ad hominem and say that anyone who doesn't like ME2 is just an RPG hermit who was disappointed the game wasn't an orgy of menues, to which I say... F**k off. There are plenty legitimate reasons to dislike ME2 both as a game and specially as an RPG.

And ME3? That one is looking to be the worst of the series by far. I only played the demo but I can already see the flaws the game is gonna have. The dialogue was stupid and mindless, the storytelling was trying too hard, they pulled lore straight ou of nowhere for no reason(omni blade) and things like the fact that the entire commitee section is COMPLETELY pointless, just doesn't tell me anything good, and couplewith horrible business strategy.

Mass effect will go down as an extraordinarily overrated series in my book and I hope more people open their eyes in the future(cause I used to think this was a great series) towards that.

It is not a 0 series by any means, but when I hear the words "Mass Effect" and "great" In the same sentence, I just completely laugh out Loud for minutes straight.

------ Yep, I knew I'd descent into a rant,lol.

Hmm, a new user posting heavy criticism of highly popular and praised title?

This certainly isn't trolling.

Though maybe I'm just jaded and paranoid.

The more recent Call of duty games, they are all just expansions of call of duty modern warfare. They shouldn't charge $60 for the same game with diffrnt guns/theme.

Half-Life 1 and 2, especially 2. I just don't like the series for some reason. I thought the gunplay was bad in the first game but the second game it felt much worst. I thought it might had been the engine but then I tried CSS and the guns handle well in that game. Maybe I'm just weird.
