Warband is M&B with upgraded features and graphics. So Warband is the way to go.

Warband has MP, which is extremely fun. And I'm sure the single player portion is not the same game as the original mount and blade.
Warband is everything the original is and then more. The AI is better, better graphics, online, way more gameplay features. Warband is what you need to get.

As Wasdie said, its pretty much everything that was in teh first one, but more on top of that.
The sp is a little different, new map/region, a few new new cultures and prolly new quests. I'm not sure as I still play the OG but that's what I heard. And yea I did the mp beta and it is fun as hell.
Go with the original if you can find it extra cheap. No need to pay $30 for Warband when you are going to get dozens of hours of fun from M&B for less. Later on buy Warband for the multiplayer, when Steam or some other site has a good deal for it.
