I was lucky enough to buy the game after they fixed the mp lag hehe. Imo, black ops is better than mw2 in every way, from a technical standpoint at least. Black ops looks amazing and runs really great on my pc on max detail with 16x AA. I do agree that the lag really sucks for us aussies when there aren't any autralian servers to connect to or when you go into a wager match from the US.

Actually the engine that Black Ops uses is essentially the same one that the original COD used. There are a few tweaks, but that's about it. They have made very small incremental changes from COD2 onward.. but the biggest jump was from the original COD to COD2 IMO. Since then the changes have been minor in comparison. When you play COD2 and then Black Ops, it's pretty obvious that they are using the same basic engine. When you open up the games' file directories, it becomes even more obvious. Look at file extensions, placements, etc..

IW 3.0, 4.0, etc.. They are all just tweaked versions of ID Tech 3. Yes, that's right.. Id Tech 3, the same engine used for Quake 3, Jedi Outcast, Academy, Elite Force 1 and 2, etc.. I have to say, this engine has the best longevity ever.. but it's looking a bit dated now. I wish they'd stopped using it after Modern Warfare. I thought that was pushing it.

So yes, MW2 and Black Ops do use the same engine when it comes down to it.

I've never been overly impressed with the progression of the engine since the jump made from COD to COD2. Since then I feel comfortable in saying that there have been just a few tweaks. Or if there have been many tweaks, they haven't amounted to much in my eyes. When I see COD2 maxed out next to Black Ops maxed out, Black Ops looks like someone tried to do too much with an old engine.

I think our learned friend biggest loser is referring to bg as in "bad game" as he often uses it at the end of multiplayer rounds when others are saying gg. Why does he do this? We may never find out.

games.on.net are always green colored with red colored game modes for me. They are pretty easy to find. Also there are wager matches in australia. They fill up pretty quickly and there isn't gungame yet.
