A looong time ago, which is why I consider them largely irrelevant. CoD should be compaerd to its peers, and the more popular shooters that are played these days are generally slower than CoD.I believe it plays a lot faster than CS. The combination of sprinting, viable melee, dropshotting, and extensive use of grenades really add to the pace of the game.

Also, I NEVER found Tribes to be that fast-paced. The environments are too large for that.

Now that's just being plain dishonest. While MW2 isn't a game particularly favored by the hardcore PC gaming crowd(aka people who take the time to register on and post on forums) it does have some staying power. There are 2-3x(depending on the time of day) the number of players playing on MW2(PC) vs BFBC2(PC). Also worth noting that MW2 came out Nov 2009, BFBC2 came out March 2010. If you prefer one game over the other, that's fine, but there's no need to be dishonest. Opinions are like nipples, everyone has them, but if you wish for your opinion to be taken seriously, you should justify your opinion in a calm and logical manner rather than frothing at the mouth like a hooligan.

Being a hipster is now a mainstream phenomenon, ironic, isn't it? People form a lot of biases and tend to spew a lot of fallacious BS just because they'd rather over generalize rather than have a well-argued rational debate. It's easier for the brain to form biases and over-generalize everything than actually having to, well, think. As for the phenomenon of game/platform fanboyism, some of that comes from people wanting the groups to which they belong to be above all others, some of it comes from being extremely partial to some games or certain types of games(and perhaps those games are only available on a specific platform), and some of it(a lot of it in many cases) comes from monetary constraints.

As for me personally, I own all current gen consoles and handhelds as well as a cutting edge PC even for when it was built(July 2011). I buy every single AAA title that comes out each year, and sometimes across multiple platforms for multi-platform releases, and I can say it really does help me see what games are just plain enjoyable for me. I can sit there and analyze my own preferences and figure out which games I have the most fun playing, however, I can on the same note, see why people enjoy many games that I may not have any fun playing at all, this is part of being able to accept diversity in the world. Too many military FPS games? Impossible, the more competition, the better. Just like with graphics cards, should one brand win over the other? No, competition forces the companies to work harder and sell GPUs for cheaper 8) Hope you guys understand my line of thought.
