I don't really care. This game is meant to push hardware and graphics and that is what it'll do. The environments are huge too.
If you can't run the game well you don't need to buy it. I don't think there's anything wrong in doing a game with high system requirements. There are many different nichés in which to make games. You shouldn't be upset just because you can't max it. It's not Crytec's fault, I'm sure they're doing everything humanly possible to get it to run as smooth as possible. Would it be better if they made the levels smaller and the graphics worse so that everyone could max it but it wouldn't look as good? I mean come on...
I remember crytek saying they could max the game out with a 7800GT at a good frame rate. What a pile of bs that was. onemic
They said a 7800GT should play Crysis on high on a reasonable resolution but not maxed out. Ya what a pile of BS that was....even tho the game isn't even out....

yes what a pile of bs it was. They already released the recommended and minimum specs, and have stated that an 8800GTS is good to run it on high settings. The very high settings are basically for future hardware(Meaning 9800 series). Where does that leave the 7800GT? Most likely at medium settings.

They actually said that or was it just another internet rumor?
Ya crytek actually said it. I got the link from mrbojangles, but I can't remember it.

Tha is ridiculous. I have an 8000 GTS 320MB and I would like as many people as possible regardless of their specs to play this game at a great quality.
As PC gamers, you should all know by know. You get, what you pay for. Just because you have to play on a lower setting, doesn't mean the graphics are worse. The game is still going to look, as it should. In other words, using your hardware to the best of it's abilities. No PC can run on 'high' settings forever, since every new engine will always be cutting edge, and will require the most bleeding edge technology there is to get the most out of it. Why shouldn't it? Just because the game has features that your hardware is not capable of producing, why would you get mad at this for it?
This is like expecting Shader 3.0 in non-Shader 3.0 cards, or expecting the Nintendo Wii's version of Madden to look as good as the 360's.... Foolish.

Precisely, that's what I tried to say. Complaining about not being able to run crysis on high, especially before the game is even out, is just silly. If you can't run it at high, then that means that either the graphics are good on lower settings too, or there's a ton of other cool stuff going on, or the game is poorly optimized, which I doubt it'll be. You can't get mad because you can't max it out, it just means they've done more cool stuff than what today's computers can handle. It's like complaining about not being able to run a pixar movie quality game in real time.
edit: well why don't you just wait until you've played the final optimized version of the game before complaining about its performance. Crysis does SO MUCH MORE than BioShock in terms of technology. Crysis attempts to push boundaries on all fronts. You can't say "BioShock looks really good and so does Crysis, I should be able to run them both really well". BioShock does small contained static indoor environments. Crysis does massive interactive outdoor environments with incredible draw distances and AI that can adapt as the environment changes. The AI is also fundamentally different from almost all games because they actually simulate senses which requires line of sight, visibility calculations and sound sensoratory calculations too. Crysis is just such a more bold game technology wise, you can't compare it to BioShock. Why are you making assumptions about Crysis online community prior to release? This is getting silly.
edit2: maybe you should do your homework before you post. The future proofing graphics options aren't enabled as of yet. They will be through future patches as new hardware is released. And again, judging the game's performance by the beta is stupid, performance can vary extremely much from build to build and the purpose of the beta wasn't to test the graphics optimization anyway. What you're REALLY complaining about is today's hardware not being good enough.

k, and whats wrong with medium settings on your year+ old card? Technology moves forward...
Well, considering the game is still unoptimized and not even released yet, I dont think anyone has the right to be angry.
As for the requirements, looks like you might have to lower the resolution a notch or two or *gasp* cut out a few things. The game ran horribly on my 8800GTS 320MB version at 1680x1050 with everything on high, but then I just turned shadows to low and now it runs silky smooth!
These high end games just require a few minutes of tweaking, thats all. But as with most things, wait for the demo before making wild and unfounded accusations.
Here is my beef with crysis I am running the beta at medium settings 1280X1024 I get 20FPS at he MOST avg is 10-15
I got a 7900GS(OC'd the hell out of it)
Gig for ram
X3800+X2
Now I know its not the best system in the world but with a few mods far cry(2004) ends up looking better on my system than crysis (laggy and jaggy at the same time on Medium!)
Now I run games like Bioshock fine maxed out 1280X1024 30+ FPS
And im really looking forward to UT3 seens like Epic dident forget about those who are have 7600GT's or hell even 6800's(looking at the unreal system req looks like I will run it good :D)
I just feel like the crysis guys are like " **** they cant max out our game unless they got a 8800 or a X1900xt.....lets change the system req...)
And what about my friend who bought a 8600 thinking he was gonna blaze trough crysis ...running at low/med

Once again you are jumping to conclusions when the game isn't even out. Mim and Recommended specs dont tell you what settings you will play on your particular system. A 7800GT may be able to play Crysis with high settings on a lower resolution like 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024, that is what i'm predicting(also assuming your other specs are decent), i'm not sure I haven't played it yet. If you were expecting a higher resolution, then you will have to buy a new card simple as that.
Also, Very high is not reserved for future hardware. In the Q & A here he says:
CY: Players who have DX10 will get a better-looking experience, with all of our settings dialed all the way up, but this will take up more of your hardware's resources. This is what our "Very High" settings are reserved for, and if you have the hardware, we fully recommend it. Our "High" settings can be used by DX10 and DX9 users, and will perform better in DX10, though our DX9 players will have nothing to worry about because we are really pushing that technology to new levels.
I can't believe I can't playCrysis on my Apple IIe. Dang it. I hate Crysis, why didn't they support my Apple IIe. wah wah wah :-( I can't believe you people are actually complaining about a game that takes advantage of the latest technology. It makes no sense.
Here's my plan: buy the game, play it on medium settings or whatever, on my current rig. When prices come down on DX10 cards, or the next gen DX10 cardscome out,I'll get one of those and play the game on max settings. It's not that big of a deal.
I'm just not going to bother with Crysis, I have a 6800 XT with 256 MB RAM, 1 GB system RAM, so I'm right at the minimum requirements, and since I love my card, I'm just going to stick with what I have.
I have plenty of games I can play, and I'm not a graphics-whore either.
If developers kept making games that didn't push the limits of the current hardware, then what is the point of coming out with new hardware? Crysis is unique in that it pushes the hardware industry to evolve with it. We should all thank Crysis for speeding the evolution of gaming. I've been waiting years for games that have a completely breakable environments and amazing AI. It's about time a company has come out with breaking-edge technology instead of copying the same crap over and over just to sell more games.dgreenheck89
AMEN
Exactly, so wait for a while, let it become affordable and then buy it. chandu83
That wait is gonna cost me anyways since I will jump to Dx10 ..there comes a whole new OS also might as well upgrade my X2 3800+ to at least 5000+ black edition and throw in 2 gigs of ram.......upgrade PSU ......hell might as well change the mobo and go core2duo :/
I'm not surprised that the recommended requirements for Crysis are as high as they are, we've all known Crysis was going to be pushing the technology for PC gaming as far as it could. So why are people moaning about not being able to run the game on the highest settings etc?
It's not Crytek's fault your PC doesn't meet the requirements for the game on its highest settings. They've done everything they could to try and make the game optimised without sacraficing visual quality and performance. I'm sure Crytek could optimise the game so people with a 7900GS or similar card like me could play Crysis on its max settings. But they would have to sacrafice and cripple this games biggest selling point, its astounding visual quality and performance. Also if they did this then the people with an 8800 series card are alienated from being able to use the full potential of their hardware.
I'd rather Crytek released a game that is pushing the available technology to its limits than release a dumbed down game that doesn't have such astounding visual quality. I accept that with my current GFX card and OS i won't be experiencing the amazing visual quality the game has to offer on its highest settings. However i am happy that at somepoint when i upgrade my PC or invest in a new one that i will one day be able to play Crysis on its highest settings and live the experience.
Ive not tried the beta because i have a midrange pc, but i can run games like fear to its fullest so im not that keen on upgrading right now since graphics have pretty much looked great since 2004, so graphics isnt that big of deal with me more in games.
From what i have seen of crysis then the only real thing that actually impressed me a little was the wild life :) I just think its cool to get those elements into a game too, the graphics look great but what dosnt these days as i said. And frankly i know crysis goes for a more photorealistic graphics but judging from screenshots then i actually prefer far crys look, far cry looks much more colorful.
[QUOTE="VinnoT"]Im seriously just not gonna bother with this game. It really is pathetic what it needs to run.ChocoKat
What I am to be pathetic is the gameplay footage. All I see is another boring game like FarCry.
FarCry boring? tell me, what game do you find teh supar funz?
i like how they changed the requirements for crysis. a while ago, they recommended a 1800 to run crysis fairly well and a core 2 duo with 1.5 g of ram, now its the same but a higher ghz for cpu and a 8800 instead of a 1800. thats a huge difference. people with 1800s can max any game out right now, but not crysis. they just basically made this game a whole lot harder to run, makes me mad. when they first released media on it a year ago or so, they said they had 1900's in crossfire, now they want you to have 8800's. i have a feeling this game won't be as fun. i don't plan on ever upgrading again. who else is mad about this? crytec is so happy they finally got it down to where you can play it on a 6800 on crysis on low, which was also min for far cry. but just to run it on high you need something that costs 600 bucks. this was my most hyped game too, until that beta.ncderekYou sound like you are about to cry... "i don't plan on ever upgrading again" what is this? because some of your settings will be set to medium? are you insane?
erh... just appreciate thefckin IMMENSE work that has been put into this game... wow just wow
