So i finally made enough money from my summer job to try and build my first computer and i tired to pick out the part but i was wonder if you had any advice. Thank you in advance.

Here is what i was thinking but i not sure and i have about $1200 to spend

Motherboard

Processor

Video Card

Power Supply

Memory

CD tray

Hard-Drive

Sound Card

Case

I all ready have a monitor so no need to worry about that.

Skip that sound card, get a E8400/E8500 instead of a E6850, get the Corsair 550vx. For $5 more you can get a 4gb DDR2 1000 set from G.Skill.

Ya if you want a dedicated sound card,then spend more money.That one is not worth it over on-board audio if at all better.

I agree with spybot and muscle, why on earth would you put that card in, the onboard sound is better, or atleast almoust as good.

The E6850 is outdated, the E8400 is cheaper, has more cache and adds the SSE4 instruction set. And I would suggest a sata DVD burner for less clutter inside your case.

Don't get that cpu get an E8400 instead, a SATA burner would be better and I would upgrade that souncard as well( Pretty much what everyone here has said)
