I leave my computer on for 12 hours (I'm not on 12 hours) and itsometimes goes into standby but the flat screen monitor gets very hot! Is this meant to be like this or what?

Also the tower (i think that's what it's called, the thing you turn it on with) seems be getting warmer each day, i'm paranoid about heat because of my 360. Do computer towers have sufficient ways of cooling down.

If you bought it from a manufacturer, I would think that 12 hours is fine, they get hot (not to touch, but the back)

Mine has been on for a month straight, I built mine though and it is fine. You might have a problem, but probably not.

Is the monitor hot to touch? that could be a problem.

I'm guessing you've got a PC from a manufacturer and not one you built yourself. In that case, I wouldn't worry. PCs can take a bit of heat. If you feel up to it, you take the side panel off of your PC and blow some of the dust out. As for the monitor, it depends on how hot it is, some LCDs are hotter than others.

The computer shouldn't be an issue but to say that the monitor is very hot is not good. Is it a CRT monitor or an LCD? LCDs should never get "very hot" but a CRT might.

If you've bought the system pre-built, which seems likely then it probably will be fine. The monitor being "very hot" though. Depends how hot it is? Is it a CRT?

Sure. CRT (cathode ray tube) are the older style monitors. They can be flat screen but they are always very deep. LCD are the newer thin panel montiors. Basically is your monitor two inches deep or 14 inches deep?

LCDs can get warm to the touch, thats normal.

Get some temp monitors for your pc, CPUID makes a great one called HWmonitor, get it here - http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
