My first build, is this OK? HELPPPP!

Hi guys, I had posted a while back that I needed a little bit of help , but since I havent bought the parts maybe I would be a little bit outdated, so here are the parts im planning on getting, i just want a good computer that will not only be for gaming, but also photo and video editing and yeah... that can last a few years withoutupgrading...

i have doubts about the gpu... i was thinking of maybe buying a 9600 gt instead of a 8800 gt, i dont think theres a huge difference, only in price, and well, the cheaper the better...

maybe i can save a little bit of money? can you guys help me out... my budget is tops $950 with monitor... MAYBE $1000... but I wouldnt want to push it

Do you plan overclocking? If you do you can save some money by grabbing a e7200 and going to 3.2ghz even with the stock cooler at stock voltages.

Purchase the Ati Radeon 4850. It has better performance than the 8800GT. It only costs 200 dollars, which is only 20more bucks. Look at reviews for the 4850. You can crank up Call of Duty 4 at 2650x1600 with anti aliasing and antiscroptic filtering. With 40+ fps!Yahiko182

Thats a good deal.... oh well i just orded my 8800 gt with a E7200, and a asus vapor bearing cpu fan. I would go with the E7200 instead of the E8400, cheaper... and put the extra money saved in a ati 4850 and a cpu fan. E8400 is a rip off in comparision of how cheap the E7200 is.

You should have read what i posted >_>

It doesnt matter if the ram the mobo supports is 1066. It will work with ddr2 800 as long as it is DDR2.

In other words, you can use any ddr2 ram (at any speed 667/800/1066) on any ddr2 mobo (if the ram speed is faster than the supported memory by the mobo it will work at such speeds), ddr3 or normal ddr wont work in a ddr2 mobo.

I hope that clears it up.

Depending on you mobo(i think) overclocking your CPU can be very simple and even automated if your afraid of messing something. It basicly improves the performance of your chips. Your 2.54 E7200 can go over 3GHz easily. CPU fan is nice to have. I would go with this board if your on a budget and want something that will work with 45nm, overclocks easy, and overall solid board for a amazing price.

E7200 FTW go with that please save your money. Also if your not gona sli go with that mobo above. Some ddr2 800 memory would be a good suggestion also. Artic Freezer 7 would be a good CPU fan, it has free shipping i believe on new egg right now. Dont be fooled by E8400 slightly larger cache that is a marketing ploy, at the most that will give you 5 extra FPS and very small performance boost, very very small. Also make sure you get a case that has good airflow and high quality fans. don't skimp too much on the case, a cool outside doesn't neccisarly make good also.
