ok, i started getting some parts for my first rig a couple of months ago, and in 3 weeks i am getting the rest.

i already have

-apevia x-cruiser case w/ 4 fans

-Abit Mobo

-500watt psu

Now this is what i want for the rest of the stuff...

-Corsair 2g ddr2 ram

-5000 b.e. athlon x2 w/ antec cooler

-250gb barracuda hdd

-Samsung black dvd-rom

-windows xp home edition

I think thats everything... any suggestions?

oh and if i have enough money, i am thinkin about a 512mb 8500gt instead of onboard, anyone know one for under 70 bucks?

you could probably find an 8600gt for under $70, the 8500 especially 512 memory is something you do not want.

something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229

With a DVI to HDMI adapter. They're 1:1 so there will be no loss of quality (just no sound from the HDMI)

The card should come with a vga-DVI converter. if not go to radio shack and buy one for like$5.

An 8600GT would suit you for your low budget, I have one (will upgrade ASAP) and I can max the Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, and pretty high settings (1680x1050) on Crysis. Yes, Crysis. :P

Other than that, looking good.

Hell, yeah its unbeliebeavle. People are maxing out COD4 maybe with 8800GT or higher card not with 8600 and even if you could just for example, no way that you have pretty high settings on Crysis. People barely get 40 with x2 8800GTS (512mb) in SLI
