my fps being limited?

hello, i've been playing cs:s on my computer and im getting a limited of 60 fps MAX. never goes past 60. i dont believe thats the max fps my hardware can handle because im running a 8800gts 320mb version and a quadcore processor with 2gb ram. i play on 1280x1024 resolution and im cs:s i've done the fps_max 300 in console already.

whats the problem?

Why does it matter? Anyway thats your moniters refresh rate why go higher than 60? Its all the human eye can detect anyway

Check the in-game benchmark. Your average should be in the hundreds.

its called vsync, make sure it isn't enabled in the game or the nvidia control panel.

bull**** human eye can notice or "detect" much higher than 60 frames per second.

Ohhh owned. Lol.

Yeah, to the original post, keep V-sync off unless you have screen tearing issues (like horizontal lines going up the screen), even if you enable it though, 60fps still feels very smooth.

Interesting. I have a hard time believing a human being can tell the difference between 60fps and 200fps, but according to that article, it's possible.

The reason why the 60-85FPS thing gets thrown around on the internet alot is not because it is the "human eye's limit" but because that usually is the limit of the vast majority of monitors.

Yeah... Most people don't really notice the difference, just because either way seems amazingly smooth, if I look closely enough 60 and 100fps seem like a big jump for me, but it doesn't really matter because 60fps still feels perfect if that makes sense...

My eyes are capped at around 25 fps. I couldn't tell the difference between 25 fps and 80 if my life depended on it. That's why my video cards always last me 3-4 years...lol.
