My friend is sucha ...

He just called me and asked me what i got for my birthday. I told him i got 250 dollars and a new laptop. I told him its a HP and he called me a **** and says dell is the best. :| He told me his mom just bought a new computer off QVC...he thinks he is going to play crysis smoothly!

You can't call someone spoiled for being given something.. If he like.. Yelled and tantrumed and complained about how unfair life is because he didn't get a laptop and 250 dollars as a gift until they gave it to him.. That's different.. Some people just have money, and some people are poor like me and joined the military and also have money.Dracunos

Thats how my friend is.  His parents paid for EVERYTHING at college and now that he has a 56+k job lined up and his parents said that after he graduates they wont support him any more, he throws a tantrum.  Its like "Dude, youre making more than they are...you dont HAVE to live in a house right out of college you know?!"

Lol, how is it being spoiled? My family is averagely middle cl@ss and my dad decided to buy me an 800$ custom built computer (about 3 years ago, which sucks now). And now, I'm buying myself an upgrade that will arrive at my house at about tomorrow...which totalled $413. But that's with my own money.

LOL exactly. By the way, I've been wondering if I'll be able to run Crysis well or not? My PC upgrade is arriving here tomorrow. It consists of a Radeon x1950 Pro, AMD Anthlon 64 2x 4600+ processor and 1 gig of RAM (DDR2, 800 mhz). 'Course, by the time Crysis arrives I should already have another gig of RAM. What do you guys think?

That should run Crysis extremely well!  Do go out and get that second GB of memory though, itll help.

Yeah that always annoys me when I see people like that. Expecially when people make fun of you for not having something expensive or for having to buy something cheap and make due. Just because some people have to work to pay for their college and living expenses doesn't give them the right to be a jerk.

I'd call a dude spoiled if his parents/grandparents/whoever buy him a lot of extravagant goods that he doesn't need. I had a neighbor whose family ended up becoming rich and the old man bought the kid a freakin Viper! All the kid does is smoke pot and go to the nudey bar, and he is spoiled rotten. He knows he doesn't actually deserve the stuff, and he never brags about it. He's still spoiled, he's just not suck-up and condescending. And for the record, it doesn't take spoiling for some people to become stuck up and condescending - it's just natural to them, I guess.

As for the OP, buying someone (especially a student) a laptop is NOT spoiling them. And even if you are spoiled, just don't be a stuck-up jerk about it and enjoy it while you can!

I think it's funny that everyone here is simultaneously poor as dirt and has an 8800gtx system...

 If your family and stuff can afford the stuff they give you without it placing any sort of financial burden on them, it's hardly spoiled. There's no shame in being well-to-do.

 Nothing's wrong whith being spoiled, but Dells arent the best anyway.... Im getting a new laptop for one of my kids too this month but it's gonna an Acer nothing fancy dancy.

He's not spoiled. He's not here to brag about his laptop, he's here to laugh at his friend, who was being a show-off.

Getting an expensive gift does not mean you're spoiled, it means you have generous parents who can afford it.

Being spoiled means asking for expensive stuff all the time and giving nothing in return. 

the only people that are spoiled are people that arnt thankful for what they have, or brag b/c they are better off financially then others and can afford expensive goods, it's different for everyone b/c not everyone has the same amount of money...you cant say a kid that gets everyhting he wants is spoiled unless you see he is ungrateful for what he has...

think of the people living in poverty around the world, im sure that they would be greatful for 250$, hell, it would buy them food for like 2 mounths, with just the cost of the computer that im using right now, i could feed a family for like...3 mouths? makes me feel guilty...
