Hi, my friend just got a new gaming PC with an HD5770, 3ghz core 2 duo(e7600), 2 gigs of ram and win7 installed and he's getting bad fps in css. He's older PC had an HD 4670 and was performing better than the one he has now. With the 4760 he's getting 370 FPS in average and with the 5770 he's getting like 160FPS in average(stress test). I told him to unistall all his ATI drivers then install the latest 5XXX version but still no luck. What can cause this? Thanks.

He told me that he's always playing on 800x600.

Then he may need to go into the BIOS and disable the onboard graphics.

I had that problem a while back. Took me forever to figure out what to do, which is hilarious because it takes about 5 seconds to go in to BIOS and fix it haha. Give it a try and see what happens

never had this problem as i went a chucking through my various gpu's...

except for my 8400gs THAT was a nightmare incarnate it disagreed with my gf 6150 onboard.

another problem could be that hes just not testing his gpu enough. there are cases of gpu's rocking the house at 1680 x1024 but falling flat on their face @ 800 x 600 :P. case in point my hd 5830 does have this problem. i only get 200fps on tiberian sun ( a game where io should be yielding 1000's :P because a) it may have a frame cap and b) the game isnt testing its capacity at all so its undercutting its preformance, which causes it to poop out,

As long as the monitor is plugged into the VIDEO card and NOT the motherboard than it wouldn't be using the IGP.

What's with the hate of onboard graphics on motherboards? It's a very welcome feature to me, not a nuisance.
