Still looks like you just threw the most expensive parts together. Also 2x4870X2 > 3x 280 GTX.

Also about the water cooling....that has got to be the crappiest kit I have seen, around the same level as TT kits.

Sistem_42

I agree with you. 4870x2 kicks a$$. Alos i would rather buy a lot cheaper PC;if you buy this one you will have a hig end PC that isnt a lot better that a duble cheaper PC, and will stay a hig end for about a year. But after that year you will bang your head in the wall coz all of your parts will be at 1/3 of price they are now, and for the money you would saved by taking a "normal" PC you could buy new or upgrade PC that you would bought.

This is what i recommend

2x 4870x2

2x 640Gb HDD 7200RPM

1000W PSU

2x 2g 1000MHZ (1066MHZ) DDR2

Quad 6600 (2.4 GHZ)

Some other motherboard (4 Dimm; max 8gb; 1066 FSB)

--------------

I dont know what are you thinking of using that PC for, but for gaming there aren't much performance difference of your and "mine" config.

Sorry didn't see the last page :D

Wait you're recommending a Q6600 and DDR2 coupled with a two 4870x2's?!... now thats just wrong.

He should get a Foxconn black opps along with a Q9450 and overclock it to 3.8GHz since hes watercooling, thats my only recommendation to be honest along with the rest of his last post/setup.

If he is going to invest that much money into a mobo, there really is no reason not to got a Rampage Extreme.

[QUOTE="_7h0m_"][QUOTE="trashedteen"]Cheers for the comments you lot, it does make sense to update your hardware regularly rather than every couple years. Does my final rig look good to go? Any revisions you think I should make? I think I'll ask about my W/C rig in another forummarkop2003

If you wanted a 30'' monitor perhaps you should look into 32'' 1080p TVs... they've gotten so mature you can't go wrong with a good Samy.

monitors have a much higher resolution he'll do bettter with the monitor

As you're going all out you could replace the water cooling with faze change

hum, no. 1080p is 1080p. the small 1200-1080 dif is negligible... and the specs on the TV I recommended destroy those of that monitor.

Overclocking CPU to 3,8GHZ will short its lifetime, and will not result big performance boost. If he is going to use a PC for gaming and he has a 30'' screen, 2x 4870x2 are great.

The most important thing for games are graffic cards. Faster memory will make very small performance boost.

Obviously I was talking about that 24''. Buying a 30'' monitor for 2000$ instead of 800$ for a 32'' 1080p TV is something I will never understand. The difference in performance you suffer from feeding 2,560 x 1,600 instead of 1920x1080 is ridiculous compared to the actual percievable experience... not to mention how that NEC monitor falls minuscule in contrast and panel quality, it mind buggles me that these things can even sell the small amount they do.

I can't see how anyone cannot be satisfied with 1080p.

Actually, the 4870 X2 Cards are better than the GTX 280's, it's not ALWAYS about pure power, the 4870 X2's are simply better, because they have "Cinema 2.0" technology, but no one cares, not too sure why, but all I can say about the GTX 280 is that when 100% Photo realistic games start appearing on the market (Which they will, thanks to Cinema 2.0 Technology), DO NOT expect the GTX 280 card to be able to give Photo Realistic graphics. People don't really know about this little fact about the new Radeon card, actually, Radeon's site, doesn't even mention it, lol which is kind of weird, if I were the marketing person for ATI, That's all I would talk about in regards to the new card, the marketing staff should be fired, lol, there's a time for Power, and a time for Features, the GTX 280 may have Power, but it lacks Features. With the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2, your getting the "Best of Both Worlds" Stick with Radeon (at this point in time) I was not even a Radeon fan until now, I was Pro-Nvidia, and Anti-Radeon, lol, but the latest card, has made me change my mind. Cheers!

as others have said it seems like you just want expensive parts and haven't really read through to see what gives performance. don't get me wrong this rig would do ok with the exception of the mobo and cpu stated earlier, but really, put together a substantially cheaper rig and invest in the newest technology when it's not so new and therefore, not nearly as expensive.

Granted this is a lot of money spent... and yes there are "better" things to do with it.. but this John's money and his choice. He has a dream he wants to fulfill - go ahead. You do have a killer rig. I wish you the best of luck building and appreciating it while it lasts!

I think we can all agree that that happens with all computer parts. There really is no way to get away from it. Although buying lower range parts means they will be better value for money.
