My parents decided to buy me a new computer if I sold my 360 and gave them the money along with the computer I am currently using now. They wouldn't let me build it for some odd reason, I guess they didn't trust me or something. Anyway, after some long and difficult persuading of my mom NOT to buy a Dell, I ordered from CyberPowerPC.

 Here are the specs:

X-Cruiser Mid-Tower Case W/ Window and neon lights

Extra 3-Color Neon Light LED Case Fan

AMD Athlon(TM)64 X2 5400+ Dual-Core CPU

AMD ATHLON64 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK

 320GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD

MSI K9N4 SLI-F nForce 500 SLI Chipset DDR2/800 SATA-II RAID MBoard w/ Dual 16x PCI-Express

 1GB (1x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Memory

Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(TM) Home Premium

 Thermaltake ToughPower 850 Watts

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

I want this computer to be awesome, like nothing I've ever played before. My questions are:

1) Will it max upcoming games like Crysis and Unreal 3 and still manage to get smooth framerates?

2) Will it be loud? I don't want my computer to sound like a jet-engine while I'm playing games.

If anyone could help me out here, that would be great. By the way, it's not shipping till about 2 weeks or so, and the wait is making me impatient!

buy another gig of RAM from newegg and you are all set my friend. And i think that should be able to max out Crysis. It will max current games no problem.

Umm... I'm not sure if you read that correctly. I'm not an expert on computers considering I'm asking for help, but please be knowledgeable in the area you are trying to help me with next time.

Thank you.

EDIT: Were you being sarcastic or something...? Wow, I just made myself look stupid lol. I can never sense sarcasm... At least not over the Internet.

Hmm...

1.) Crysis is up in the air for now, but you should be fine. Unreal Engine 3 is very flexible. If you have Steam, check out RoboBlitz. As for maxing out, that depends on what resolution you plan to be playing at and what anti-aliasing/filtering levels you apply. Another stick of RAM wouldn't hurt.

2.) Noise levels vary by build. It all depends on the case construction and fans. Sorry, but I have no help for ya with that case. The 8 series cards tend to run very quiet though.

Hope that helps. =)

Vortexx

I was going to play at a resolution of like 1600x1200 or something, I don't remember what it was. I want to put AF at about at least 4x and 2xAA is fine.

I am worried about how my single core p4 3.4 ghz will run crysis once I upgrade to a 7950gt video card.  I will definately be gaming in dx9 until i build a new rig in 2008

just a tip for the next time you buy a computer:

don't buy a pre-built one. buy all the parts seperately and put it together yourself. this way, you can get better parts for a lot less money. if you don't know how to put it together or what parts to buy, do some research or get help from a friend.

Yeah, I know that. That's what I was trying to explain from my dad. Lol, my friend's don't know crap about computers so they couldn't tell me. I could've probably put an 8800gtx in my rig instead, but my mom went all psycho and said "YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE A MONITOR!"

I hate it when people try to disprove me just because they are older than me, it is completely ridiculous.

okay first tell me how many fans you have and what size are they(120mm or 80mm). Second add another GB of ram. 850 watts is OVERKILL, stick with a 500 watt with 35 amps under 12V. get another CPU, AMD lost the CPU war and this is coming from a fanboy get a C2D e6660 also means you have to switch motherboard for C2D support. Also I say weait until july for price cuts on intel CPU's. you could get a quad for $269. and i hope you got a nice 22inch monitor 1680x1024 for that card otherwise your better off with a 320mb GTS. listen to me and you will max crysis and bioshock, also pateince is a virtue, you dont wana buy stuff then realize its outdated when not many dx10 games are out. Trust me patience is good with this stuff.

rule #1: dont let your parents control what PC to buy unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE they know what they are doing. my dad bought my current PC, and it sucks. i did what i could to fix it up, but you cant do much when the motherboard only has PCI ports XD.

if your mother is giving you crap like that, just tell her she doesn't know what she's doing. the only reason u'd need a new monitor is if yours is way too outdated or broken. or if you find it truly neccessary to upgrade to HD or whatever it is you want. graphics will still look nice with an old-school monitor. good luck w/ ur new PC tho.

Wow, it doesn't even say what kind on the receipt.

Second add another GB of ram.
Yeah I forgot to mention I was going to add another gig when I can, thanks though.

850 watts is OVERKILL.
Umm, what is that supposed to mean? It can't hurt to get a good PSU.

No. AMD is cheaper, why not get it?

I ment I'm getting impatient as they're taking too damn long to ship it.

you seriously need to find out what fans you have, 80mm are not great cooling and loud i have 5 right now and its like a jet lol. 120mm are bigger fans meaning they dont have to spin as much thus providing better cooling at lower noise lever. 850 watt is overkill because its not necessary and you shoulod use that extra money for something else ie CPU/monitor. you wont be SLIing so there is absolutly no point in getting 850 watts if your not gana be using all of it. 550 is more than enough and CHEAPER. You should go with intel because their CPU is better and not that much more expensive and like i said if you wait until july the prices will be really cheap plus you might bottleneck with that CPU at 1680x1150. A monitor has everything to do with maxing games. See you play games at a resolution like 1280x1024 or 1680x1150 or the absurd levels of 1900x1200. The higher resolution(1680x1150) the better image quality. Now if you wont game at 1680x1150 you wont need a 640mb GTS a 320mb GTS will do perfectly for 1280x1024. The patience comment was directed to you waiting until july and getting a better deal.

Wow, it doesn't even say what kind on the receipt.

Check the case. Chances are good that they use the fans that come with your chassis. My guess is 120mm front and back. That is basically the basic in-and-out configuration, but it may have additional 80mm accessory fans. Noise level depends on manufacturer.

Umm, what is that supposed to mean? It can't hurt to get a good PSU.

Heh, that's true. However, so many people look at watts alone and ignore voltages and amperes. I have a 550w Antec Neo HE and it runs my hefty system with ease. Check with trusted companies like Antec, Enermax, etc.

No. AMD is cheaper, why not get it?

You're half right. I found an E6600 for less cash than an X2 6000. In the end, it comes down to preference. Intel wins by a hair when it comes to benchmark performance and OCing.

Wtf does a monitor have to do with maxing games?

One word: resolution. The more space needed to fill, the more work for your GPU. A 22" screen has more PIXELS to fill than a 19" screen. Either way, you can always lower resolutions, but that degrades quality. You want the highest resolutions possible without sacrificing speed.

I ment I'm getting impatient as they're taking too damn long to ship it.

You won't be sorry if the company does good burn-in and stress tests. I bought from a company which shall not be named, and have since replaced every single core component of it to date!

^no your right it does but you still do see gains between the 2 CPU's. the difference wouldn't be negligible.
