I'd say go with the Hd 4850 instead. It's 85$ after MRI@ newegg. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=192&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=6 Puts it just a little under 9800GTX. Don't mistake that for the 9800GT. Unless they are the same thing >.

Not bad, although I'd probably double the memory and get a bigger hard drive. Other than that it's very similar to the build I put together a few days ago (7750 X2, HD 4830) for about $500CDN.

Agree 100% with this. I just built my brother a new pc for 700$ and It's just as fast, If not faster than my X6800 EE OC'd proc. I was really Impressed with the new Phenom II 720 chip, for 140 It's a barn burner and less than half the price of Intels overpriced garbadge. I mean the new Intel i7 920 Is good, but when you look at the "real world" bench marks It's not worth even 270 or whatever It's going for, especially when an older Intel chip still beats the i7 In allot of tests. I'd have gotten the Kuma 7850 over the 6000 though, and It's only 69.00$.

How about the Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale or the AMD Phenom 9600 Agena? The E5200 may not be a Core 2 Duo, but the processor can easily be oc'ed to 4GHz with air cooling. And you can't beat the AMD's quad core for $90.

I'm looking to build a $300-$400 computer when I get a job, but I'd love for it to be supremely cheap. I use mainly laptops for now because of college but the desktop will be used during breaks and vacations.
