That would only make sense if you have a integrated graphics chip with 64mb shared memory.

By the way, the Graphics will take away up to 128mb from System Ram.

If you put a new graphics card with dedicated memory - one that does not steal from System RAM, the overall RAM will go back to 512mb.

yep, but if you're going to buy a graphics card just to keep your RAM at 512, might as well buy another 512 stick to go along with it.

I'm thinking of upgrading this gradually to 2gb (the limit)

and I have been told to add the latest geforce 7 series graphics card.


The problem is installing stuff I have no idea about computering or even the RAM type I need.

My power supply is 300w is that good enough for a latest graphics card?
