Hey, I had a mate over a few days ago that wanted to try out my HD4890/C2D E8500 rig. After trying some of my more demanding games ( such as Crysis, Far Cry 2, and STALKER: Clear sky for instance. ) he said that my rig was performing poorly for a 4800/C2D setup and that his 8800 series card rig performed better. I showed him some web benchmarks but he said that all of those were inaccurate and I shouldn't rely on them. Stuff he reacted heavily on was that I sometimes dropped down below 60 FPS in L4D ( during finale hordes mostly. ), Generally poor performance in Crysis, Far Cry 2, Empire: Total War and the World in Conflict: Soviet Assault benchmark tool.
So I turn to you guys (again) for help. :) Is he right about my rig doing worse than it should be or is he just being an idiot that doesn't know what he is talking about?
Full details on my rig:
