Unfortunately, my Alienware Area-51 (which I got in 2004) just doesn't do too well with new games anymore. I can run Company of Heroes on medium quality with, at best, 40 FPS. And, I recently upgraded my video card, but unfortunately the power supply can't give it enough power. Now, even Warcraft III is crashing when I play for over an hour. But, over the last 2-3 months, it's had many more problems, and I think it's time to get a new one.

So, basically I need recommendations on which gaming PC would be the best for a $3500 budget. I wouldn't mind buying from Alienware again; even though the computer lasted me only 2.5 years, it was really great at everything it did until a couple months ago.

Thanks for your suggestions!

if your into boutique pre-builts check out the Blackbird 002. you have the budget for it. otherwise anything from falcon northwest is great. are you looking to build or buy?

The new Blackbird 002by HP is supposed to be sick. It got the highest rating ever for a desktop PC by cnet.com. And they have so many options. You can get either an AMD or Intel and an ATI or Nvidia depending on your personal preference.I would check that out. http://h20435.www2.hp.com/#/tech-specs/

If I were you, I would keep the current rig you have, and gut it. Upgrade to crossfire/SLI mobo, quad core cpu, 4gb RAM, maybe some new HDs for SATA-II RAID, new PSU to support crossfire 2900xt or SLI 8800GTX whichever is your flavor. And then use the rest for some sweet speakers or dual monitors.

But that's just me.

It also looks like a good launch pad with that hinge thing at the bottom.

Blackbird 002 looks like the best desktop around. Which is very weird, because HP usually makes HORRIBLE computers.

For that much money you could build the best gaming rig imaginable with an awesome HD monitor.

After doing a bit of research, this is what I came up with for a 2000 US$ PC right now, with no peripherals: Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail 139.99 PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W Continuous @ 40°C Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, cUL, CE, CB, TUV - Retail 149.99 ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail 184.99 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail 259.99 Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail 109.99 EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail 529.99 AuzenTech Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Retail 229.99 Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM 109.99 LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner - Retail 31.99 SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model MPF920 Black - OEM 7.99 Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Ultimate for System Builders Single Pack DVD - OEM 199.99 Subtotal: 1,984.89 That leaves you a good 1500 US$ free to expand upon that. It's your choice to use that extra money for even more spectacular hardware(say, 4 GB of RAM instead of just 2 GB, and it might even allow for overpriced DDR3! Or maybe you can get TWO 8800 GTXs and a 680i mobo for the sake of SLI, while still having enough room in your budget to get a 750W or even 1000W PSU to supply the necessary power! Maybe you can even buy a dual-Socket 771 board and stuff a couple quad-core Xeons in it for seemingly-unlimited CPU power!), or peripherals like a new keyboard, mouse, speakers, and display. It could also buy you a killer cooling setup to help you reach astronomical overclocks, just like what the boutique pre-builts tend to have.
