Been playing WoW for bout 8 months. its a great game but i have no desire at end game to grind out tier 7 or save a bunch of gold up by grinding out dailies everyday. so im going to give it a break for a while and enter a new mmo.

heres were you come in. give me your opinion on the next best mmo. or even if u think its better then WoW.

im leaning towards warhammer.

Warhammer might be a good way to go as its pvp-centric end-game is a bit different from WoW; I don't imagine you want to play the same game with a different backdrop.

I use EQ2 as a wow break, you can get an all in one pack with all 6 expansions for around $40

I'll have to throw my personal recommendation for Warhammer in here. Been playing since launch and I'm still loving it. They just released two huge patches within a few days of each other (separate from the many, many smaller patches that have been released) which have made the game even better.

With the most recent 1.1a patch that was released last Thursday, the Open RvR (main component of PvP) has just exploded on most servers. There are constant large battles at Keeps (at least during the weekends and evenings, can't speak for daytime as work during the day).

I wish they had a trial you could check out, but none as of yet.

Listen man Ive been in your shoes many times before. Every few months I get tired of WoW, so I go on a haitus.

I suggest you just stop playing MMOs for a few months. Its kinda nice coming home from work and not feeling like you need to play the game (not saying its addictive, just saying that when you do get time to play games you usually go for the MMO first). Plus, when you do come back, the game is a lot more fun.

If you absolutely have to have an MMO to play, why not give EVE a try. I gotta be honest: WoW is pretty much the most fun fantast-based MMO out there. It may not be the best in terms of complexity or PvP, but its the most fun. So why not try a different kind of MMO? EVE is so refreshing, so different, and its got an amazing community.

Not sure how long you're willing to wait to play another MMO, but personally I'm waiting for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Otherwise I would say Warhammer or EQ2.

I was a hardcore WOW player and now I play Warhammer, and to me, they're not the same at all.

I know the feeling. I just got back to WoW after having playing Age of Conan and Warhammer. I think your best bet is Warhammer at the moment. Conan needs some more fun to it. COnan looks great, plays well, but just lacks the thing why we're playing games in the first place, fun. Warhammer has plenty of that, but I just couldn't get into the PvP (or RvR as it's called there). But worth giving a shot for sure.

I have been sincerely thinking about trying Warhammer.. I love pvp combat.. What I am concerned is it having a dead population.. I loved EQ2 for instance but essentially the dagger in the heart for me for that game was the fact that the population died down alot.. Where rarely you would ever find a group... Am I to expect the same thing for Warhammer? To me its almost a done deal, at amazon its STILL only $20 and it has free shipping!

They have done server transfers lately, so most of the servers have decent populations now. Also, as I mentioned above, there have been some significant changes recently implemented that has gotten everybody excited again and out doing massive open RvR.

Not to mention they released the two tank classes that were pulled just prior to launch.

If you hurry up and get in, they have their next Live Event (Keg's End) starting tomorrow, 12/17, that looks to be a lot of fun. Revolves around drinking a lot of beer (well, in-game, but you could do the same in real life as well I suppose).

NO ONE is going to mention Dungeons & Dragons Online? Sure, there isn't really PVP except for Arena Pits in Taverns and stuff, but I've had a TON of fun even on a trial account. Level cap is being raised from 16 to 20 soon, and there is TRUE multi-classing in DDO. No "Here's your main job, now choose a second one since you've reached level xx" it's more of a "Here's a group of class trainers, do what you want." It's based around dungeon crawling, raiding, and general party based things. More of a PVE game, really. The combat is very cool, too. It reminds me more of a third-person shooter than anything. Like playing Oblivion in third-person mode or playing a hack-n-slash game with a DnD feel to it with the die rolling and instanced missions. Great game. :) The population isn't exactly... over flowing, but there are more than enough people to talk to. :D

i betad it i stopped periodically to go play some guild wars and diablo 1 because i got bored a) looking at it, and b) looking at its lack of early on stuff to do.

like im serious i finish the beta entirely for most of the races and basically had done like 7 quests given to me in a row haha. and its crafting system was dreadful. idk about the rest of the game but when ur disillusioned by the beginning it turns off ppl.

and D&D online is a solid game dont get me wrong but i feel that unless u have actually played its paper form u lack the sense of attatchment to the game.
