The favourite game to many gamers today! A graphical overhaul is being made that will be out very soon that not only improves the graphics but also compiles all the best mods along with an updater to add new ones. You can find the website here: http://www.ornitocopter.net/morrowind-overhaul/ Another great mod coming out would be Sotha Sil's entire Clockwork Tower, a gigantic new area to one of the most memorable places: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlIkd-aH36s

I need to get back into playing Morrowind at some point, it's been too long and those mods look great.

What's the point? Each new Elder Scrolls is like a souped up version of the previous game. I wouldn't go back to a game that has less in it if you know what I mean.

If you know what he means :P Morrowind is a wonderful game, it's easy to understand why it is still played by many gamers. I wouldn't mind playing it again, now with this nice overhaul.

It doesn't matter how much you overhaul the graphics...the animation will be the same...crap!The voice acting also and pretty much everything else in the game will be the same...

By the way these guys talk there must be no possible way you could ever go back and play classics like Zelda, Metroid, the good Final Fantasy's, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, or a metric ton of other great games.

Morrowind is well worth the time of installing, even if it does look (and play) like a bus simulator. I think it's time I re-installed Morrowind...again!

Voice acting is one of the worst things to happen to TES, you can't learn any lore or get directions when people are telling you because it takes forever, that's why they have the auto compass. The amount of pure text and things to learn in Morrowind would easily outnumber Skyrim and Oblivion 10 to 1.

In Morrowind, it feels like you are roaming across a world.

With Oblivion and Skyrim, it feels like you're roaming across a game world.

HUGE difference.

No...you sound like an uneducated person....

Our sight is the most valuable sense we can rely on...So in comparison to todays graphics and what the human eye can perceive...Morrowind is not a playable game, only if u have some kind of nostalgia.Every single game that is old, with old mechanics old and ugly graphics is going to suck if you are playing it now in these days...because our brain has already tasted 1000x better graphics and mechanics and voice acting in the newer games...so you can't trick the brain in to thinking that an old game is gorgeous if you already have played something better...only if you have deep nostalgia or something.

The only thing debateable would be the story...but then again visuals and sound have a great impact on the story too...

I disagree, I liked playing NES Ninja Gaiden a year ago and I never played it before, heck it came out 4 years before I was even born so you can't say that is nostalgia.

Wow.. what a joke. Some people actually enjoy games that have detailed stories and side stories, lore, world intricacy, UNIQUENESS. The Elder Scrolls may have received better graphics and animations as the series progressed, but they went ass backwards in terms of everything that's important for me to enjoy an RPG.

Besides, Morrowind graphics overhauls make the game look pretty damn nice.

There are some games I can't stand playing because of the dated or terrible graphics (eg: Minecraft) they do seem to give me a headache, but I think your comment took it a bit too far. By your logic if our brain sees higher quality visuals it will completely reject any old or low quality visuals correct? So, 'logically' speaking, our brains should reject all forms for video games and generated graphics because lets face it there's no topping visual quality of what your eyes see in everyday life (unless you have poor eyesight then you should probably get a pair of glasses or something) This reminds me of this joke that was going around a few years ago

But Morrowind Overhaul will be very easy to install! They even brag the installation will be one page and you don't have to read it.

When is Overhaul 3.0 supposed to be out? I was about to reinstall Morrowind until I saw 3.0 isn't out yet. Do they have a release date in mind? Also, the poster who said you can't go back to Morrowind because it's dated is completely wrong. Some people like games for their original charm and depth, and that's how myself and I'm sure a lot of people think of Morrowind. Ya, I'll admit the gameplay isn't as smooth as other similar games, but honestly I would say that's the only legitimate knock against the game there is. When I get around to playing Morrowind again once this mod comes out, it will be a great experience. I put hundreds of hours into that game, far more than I did with Oblivion or Skyrim, and I'd love to relive it again with most of the important things brought up to current standards.

I guess I just don't see the argument of saying "That game is too dated! It's impossible to enjoy it!" Because to think that and honestly believe that, is quite idiotic.

I agree with you about the voice acting. It is indeed nice to have it, but nothing compares to Morrowind when if you had a quest, you were reading the whoooole log or else you would have no chance of knowing where to go. The fact the game doesn't just guide you to your location and the fact that even during a quest you may find another side quest chain, and by the time you finish with that one, you've already put about 5 hours into the game without completing what you initially set out to do. That's what's so great about it. It's just a giant world with thousands upon thousands of things to do and see.

Morrowind isn't a favorite game to many gamers today. It's a favorite game to gamers from 10-30 years ago. The generation of gamers that call everyone that doesn't share their opinion 13 year old call of duty kids. The generation of gamers that think over complication, steep learning curves, old things in general, slow-paced combat, and pretty much old everything is better than anything released in recent years. The kind of gamers that hate change. Morrowind's combat system is worse than Skyrim's combat system in my opinion. Objectively Skyrim's combat system requires more input from the user and is in actual real time. Morrowind's combat system is dice-based, you have no control over it. You kill things by leveling up. If that's your thing then all the power to you. No I'm not talking about everyone, im not generalizing a entire group of people. But there are a number of people like this that give everyone else a bad name. And even if it isn't true, impressions are everything, and thats what you people appear to act like.

My problem with Morrowind wasn't the fact that the graphics weren't good, it was the fact that the combat was poor. Does this overhaul fix the combat? if not, not interested.

Your main argument is: "because me and some others say so..."

Actually, you're argument is opinionated based on your preferences - just like everyone else that games. If dated graphics turn you away from a game, then so be it. There's nothing anyone can do to change your mind.

I like Morrowind the way it is. Graphics don't generally play much of a difference in my opinion of a game. I enjoy stories in games, if the story is good and lore is well built, the game is more enjoyable for me.

Take The Witcher when it came out....good visuals for it, but very lacking combat. You just click on the mouse button over and over again - I found it more boring then what is available in Morrowind. Only thing that kept me playing the game was the story, I found it entertaining.

My problem with Morrowind wasn't the fact that the graphics weren't good, it was the fact that the combat was poor. Does this overhaul fix the combat? if not, not interested.dannenissan2

I'm not sure actually, I'll see when I download it and get the credits and the list of mods. What immediatley comes to mind though is Morroblivion which uses Oblivion's graphics and combat system.

No, the combat remains the same as any other RPG from the era (like Diablo in 1st person).

Holy crap that does look good. Amazing that that's even possible with a 10 year old game. I'll have to reinstall Morrowind when this overhaul is available. I mean seriously, damn that looks good. I'm sure the animations are still pretty dated, but as far as lighting and scenery goes, that's almost as good as vanilla Skyrim.

[QUOTE="Brean24"]Morrowind isn't a favorite game to many gamers today.

 I'm 19 and first played Morrowind 5 years after release and it's my favorite RPG ever. Morrowind is what an RPG should be, no hand holding, no auto compass, no level scaling, lots of lore and a ridiculous number of different skill paths you can take. Most people, probably you, play it for about 10 minutes and decide the graphics are bad so the game is therefore bad.

Also that's pretty good. I especially love the selling point, "Fully PVP".

You say that like you're saying that Morrowind's story and setting is as shallow as a kiddie pool.

Don't engage him. He also said it's a scientific fact that you can't enjoy games with dated graphics, after playing modern ones, because your brain is acclimated to better graphics. Ignoring, of course, the fact that if that were true, it would have been impossible for anyone to enjoy any video games, ever, because real life exists.

First off, I cannot read what you say without reading it in Archer's voice. XD But anyways in a post I said before if you want better animations there is a mod for that which in some ways I think they did a better job than Skyrim's animations and it came out two years before! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2PO2yFxEMY

Yeah I'm 18 and just played Morrowind not that long ago, I'll admit, it was hard to get into but once I did, wow. Also I fully agree with everything you said about Morrowind, I love it for all those same reasons and also, there is a mod you know to add over a hundred new creatures called GIANTS mod I think.

Oh man. Those are some seriously improved animations. I think I'll almost definitely have to reinstall morrowind and get these mods some time soon. I'll have to pace myself with it, though, and try not to get addicted again. I'll surely be in the danger zone.:P

Sorry about that, it's just mind boggling that someone can say with a straight face that the generic medieval fantasy Europe is a far more interesting and original setting than something that takes elements and bits and pieces from Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, Feudal Japanese, Mongolian, Roman, Imperial Chinese culture and puts them together seamlessly.

Not to say Oblivion or Skyrim are bad games, it's just that Morrowind's setting is far better than both of them in terms of being unique and far more interesting.

Haha. yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Then again, coming from him, it makes perfect sense.:P

Why trying to get into an old game having skyrim? It's really hard to get into these old 3d games again, not the same case with 2d classics thou.

The little things really add to the game. Haha, oh god you're telling me! I played 400 hours on the Xbox one and probably only did 2/3 of the game if that, I can only imagine how much time I will sink in on the PC!
