I've just moved house and my PC room doesn't currently have a phone socket for the broadband so I've had to move the router to the lounge.  What would be a decent wirless dongle or am I best with a PCI card?  I'd rather avoid using card slots if possible.  The signal will have to travel through one wall and around 4-5 metres.

Pretty much any $15-20 USB dongle from Newegg or w/e will work just fine. No need to use a card these days.

I use a Netgear USB dongle for BF3 and BC2 and suffer no problems. However, the source of the signal, my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (4G), is never more than a few feet away, but it works. My ping can be as low as 175.

OK thanks guys, I might just take a punt at this one then - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003VIY03Q/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0RGQ5XV99D4WJRJRBC1D&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=430153987&pf_rd_i=468294. I will eventually run a proper connection into the room but there are a million far more important things to get done around the house first (soffits to replace, fireplaces to restore, etc. etc. etc). Even the TV point is in the wrong place so that needs doing >:(. To be fair though I've done a bit of online gaming on my laptop through the wireless and haven't had any speed issues.  I'm pretty rural so maybe that helps give me a strong wireless signal.

I meant to put "as low as 75." That's not so bad when the people you're playing with have pings around yours and up to 300+.

Obviously it depends on the game but I really struggle to play on anything over 50. Too much Counterstrike I guess.

I don't notice any input lag.

We're not talking about input lag, we're talking about network lag - like getting killed by someone before you actually see them or after you've ducked into cover because of lag.

I get 40ms ping on my laptop's wireless in CS:GO, not too bad. I can't imagine playing on 175ms though.
