To rule out any network problems you should try running the game with some bots... You can do that in CS Source right?? I know you could in the older CS games. However you said the video freezes which doesn't sound like a network problem to me. Maybe your hard drive has some bad sectors and the game files are getting corrupt because it re-installed the game into the same sectors. Do you regularly defrag your hard drive? If you do that should move the files around however it still might place them on the bad sectors (if there are any). I would scan your hard drive for bad sectors using Scan Disk. You can do this in windows or a command prompt using the CHKDSK command. Probably easier to do it in windows for most people though. Here's how to do it if you don't know how to: Note: This is how to do it on Windows XP. Not sure if it is different for Vista and 7 or not. 1. In My Computer, right click on your drive and select properties. 2. Go to the Tools tab and click on "Check Now" 3. On the window that pops up, check both boxes and select start (It may need to restart the computer and then check during boot up). 4. Continue above steps for any other drive or partitions you may have. After that is done I would defrag your hard drive for good measure. You may want to try re-installing the game after too or maybe uninstall it before running scan disk. Or maybe your Hard Drive could be failing and causing files to get corrupted. Posting the system specs would help. How old is the system? I would install SpeedFan and check the S.M.A.R.T. info for your hard drive. Go to the S.M.A.R.T. tab and select your hard drive from the drop down menu then click on "Perform an in-depth online analysis of this hard disk" and it will tell you the condition of your hard drive. Maybe a video card problem too, but from my experience a video card problem usually locks the whole system up and you have to re-boot the system. You should be experiencing the problem in other games too if it was the video card. Have you tried playing other games to see if they are having any problems too? I'm not sure but it sounds like a bad hard drive to me. Another thing could be the anit-cheat system they use.. Not sure what CS:S uses but with call of duty if PunkBuster is not working correctly it will kick you from the server and may say something like "Corrupt packet flow". However that doesn't explain your video freezing so I am going to go back to a possible hard drive problem.
