I need to buy a new gaming pc. I have a couple of questions.

Is now a good time to buy? Anything new coming soon? Should I get a 64bit processor?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First its always a good time to buy a new pc if your not gonna get the best, DX10 cards r comin after 2 weeks,core2 duo's prices gonna drop after about 4 weeks, approx all new processors are 64 bit. in the end everything depends on the budget.

There's never a good time to buy a PC. There is, and there always will be new stuff coming about. Get a Dual Core 64bit processor and please, list your budget.

I would like to stay under $2,000.

There is a pc on bestbuy.com.  Its a velocity micro for $1400.  512mb gforce 7600GS.  Good deal?

Is AMD the only 64bit or is the intel dual core duo 64?

Build your own, better bang for your buck and no the 512MB 7600GS sucks. Core 2 Duo and Athlon 64 X2 are both 64-bit processors.

You will always have the upper hand if you build your own computer.  You can get the parts that YOU want, not what a cheap ass manufacturer is going to stuff in a box just so that their overhead isn't so high.

As far as games go, I personally recommend Battlefield 2142, STALKER, Supreme Commander, Command and Conquer 3, FEAR, Battlefield 2, Half Life 2.....
