I was just wondering what the pros and cons are for each game. How's the multiplayer community in each game? which one would you say is more realsitic?

I'm kinda leaning torwards ArmA II but I want to hear the opnions from you guys first

ArmA II no contest. Especially with codemasters announcement that support for Dragon Rising is done, no more patches and no more DLC. ArmA II has it's flaws for sure, the AI in particular can be a little dodgy but the way it seemed to me that DR got around that was by limiting player actions in the game. I felt through the whole thing that I couldn't really approach each situation in the way I wanted but rather in the way the designers intended. ArmA II has the more realistic feel too and with the kind of community support it will pull, it'll be even better in the long run.

I'm mad at ArmA 2 for never dropping the prices. The game is still $50! For $50, you could get Bad Company 2 Limited Edition. But if it's truly between ArmA 2 and OFP2, ArmA 2 is the better game.

arma 2 is worth 50 dollars, due to the fantastic editor and mods, would last you longer than bc2 aswell.

But unless I have any way to test to see how it will run on my computer, I guess I'll never really know.

ARMA 2 has a demo

A buggy, terribly optimized demo - which isn't relevant to the game in its current state (or so I've heard)

I should've added the games all patched up to date. But yes the ArmA II demo was buggy but I could see it's potential. As far as I'm concerned alot of bugs have been fixed for ArmA II not sure about Operation Flash point 2 though

Id say that none of them is worth it because you die when you get hit only a couple of times and in Operation Flashpoint, you only get two people with you against a whole army and the setting in both games are boring.

Yeah the United States and Australian Army use an enhanced version called Virtual Battle Station (VBS), it has more features and greater realism. There is now VBS2 which uses the ArmA 2 engine.

There was also talk that they(US army) used Full Spectrum Warrior as well a few years ago I believe.

Buy Arma 2 if you're looking for a highly realistic military sim with great multiplayer.

Buy Flashpoint 2 if you're looking for a semi-realistic action game with great singleplayer.

That is not right.

VBS1 is based on the same engine as Operation Flashpoint: CWC/Res/Elite and it is called Real Virtuality 1.

VBS2 is based on the same engine as ArmA1 and is called Real Virtuality 2.

ArmA2's engine is called Real Virtuality 3.

http://www.arma2.com/supply/presskit/file/20-realvirtualityengine-gc2008.html?lang=en

And as far as I know VBS stands for Virtual Battlespace and not Virtual Battle Station, thats what the official site says anyway.

and then they made a contract with Activision and used Call of duty 4 as a training program and thats why they're losing the war now !!

Good one

OPF2 is more like GRAW. Just kinda realistic, basically an average FPS but realistic.

Arma 2 has a as realistic as possible aura, more of a sim nature, you can do some strategizing and not just the usual tactical approach.

ArmA II no question. However do get the 1.05 patch, ACE2 and Zeus a.i. mod with it.
