Well I was looking at the sticky showing how to build a PC and looks easier than I thought. The thread told me to ask here so I am. I would want to build a PC with an AMD processor and an ATi graphics card. I want a normal size of RAM, so 4 GB, and for the HDD 320 GB would be fine. Unless you think I should get more. It all depends on price really. No more than $600 would be great. I dont want a beaasting PC but one that would last me along time and be able to play a lot of games, most on high but games like Crysis I could play on medium. Anyways you guys/girls know what I could get for that price range. If want to direct me to a website that would help me that would be great but I wouldn't know what is better and stuff. Thanks for all the help.

Well don't expect it to last 2 years since you only have $600 to spend on it. Would that be including the OS?

Hmmm no it is not includint OS. What is the cheapest thing I could get that would still be good. The dude in the How tobuild a PC thread spent $535 on parts alone. And said he could play most games maxed out, I dont mind going to medium as yearspass. But if it is necessary no more than a $1,000 for sure though. And if I spend that much will it last more than 5 years?

Thanks I am willing to lower settings as years pass, and am willing to go up to $700 w/o an OS. Give me an idea on what you can build, also it would be a budget PC.

but I usually charge build fees, I need to make some money to pay for my college textbooks and stuff you know lol :). Trust me you're better off just spending $1000 because it will last you longer and I will have enough room to make a nice configuration for you without skimping out on anything :). How's $75 for a build fee? You won't have to pay taxes either ;)

Yea I know. Also, I am willing to upgrade the graphics card every couple years actually. But not willing to build a whole new PC couple years later. Is that possible? To have everything else last a while and be able to just upgrade the graphics card?

Wow, a $75 fee? That's a steal compared to the "premiums" on prebuilts. I'm assuming that doesn't include a warranty though :?.

$700 could buy a decent AM3/PII setup paired with a 5770 (inless the prices fluctuated..again)... I'll get a build list in a sec.

Yeah the AM3 and LGA 1366 platforms are the most future proof at the moment. A LGA 1366 based system seems rather out of your budget ($1800+), so I guess an AM3 Phenom II based system would be a good bet. So is $1000 a firm budget for you? and umm where do you live by the way? I live in New Hampshire :).

Hmm the price is intimidating lol. Can we talk about this later, sorry, the prices just popped out of no where. And $1000 is to much. $700 without Windows 7 is realistic.

Well I'm kinda up and down with my build fees since I really don't know what's a good build fee to charge. I usually go for $100 as a build fee, but I wasn't really sure what his exact budget is yet so I just said $75. I'm thinking of finalizing my build fees as perhaps $1000 (system cost) and under a $75 build fee, $1000-$2000 (system cost) a $125 build fee, and $2000+ a $175 build fee. I will absolutely not charge fees per hour though because I think it would fluctuate too much and wouldn't be fair so I'm charging fees based on how much the components cost all together if that makes any sense.

phenom 945= $166

xclio A380BK full tower= $80

WD 750gb HDD= $65

4gb (2gb-x2) A-Data 1600mhz ram= $90

ASUS 790gx mobo= $130 $15 mail in rebate

XFX 5850 GPU = $309

PSU Corsair 750tx= $120 $10 mail in rebate

win 7 = 100 bucks

cd-dvd drive= $20

$1080 not including shipping or ultimates $75 dollar fee. the 750 could be shot down to a 650 but dont count on being able to add another 5850 down the road. the 750tx should help you when you decide to add a little beef to your system with another 5850. I would say get a 5750 or 5770 to make it cheaper...but the 5850 puts you a little overe budget and its beast. nice system there. The mobo will run crossfire, but I believe only at x8 on each pcie 2.0 if I got that right. Don't really know if that makes it slower or what, but I doubt its by alot.

I live in Wisconsin so the mailing is going to cost, I guess, I really wouldn't know. But let me see what I can do about cash now. kilerchese's build looked best for me to play games well right now and room for upgrades in the future without rebuilding the whole thing. Thanks for all the help.
