Now im not a big PC gamer myself but my son is in to rts's and he loves the world in conflict demo. Now my problem is that my crappy pc only has PCI slots (sucks i know). Do any of you guys know if there is a video card out there (PCI only) that could atleast play it in medium settings. Ive done my own research but i get a lot of mix reviews, what do you guys think?
My opinion is that the mainboard should be yanked out in favor of something with a real video bus on it, even if it has to be used, and AGP; just to get rid of the cheap junk in there now.
The PCI bus's speed is half that of base AGP1, without accelleration, and the bandwidth is nothing compared to AGP. You could put an 8800 GTX on a PCI interface and it would be choked down to the same speeed as an X1300 or X1550 on that interface.
I agree with Kiwi...you are better off trying a new mobo (really...just upgrade that whole system). But, for grins you could try one of these, but the results would be.......marginal at best.
Well i kinda understood what you were telling me, so what your saying there is no such card that can play WIC. Cuz if thats true it really sucks if i have to upgrade my whole motherboard.

Jeah, thats the long and the short of it. A machine with just PCI though....that is gonna be used for gaming....REALLY needs an upgrade anyway.

The good news would be: A PC that is capable of some decent light gaming can be put together for suprisingly little these days. Depending on the parts that could be used from your current setup a new machine could be constructed for 3-400bux or less easy.
