For the sake of convenience I decided to make an ISO of one of my favourite games and now I can't play it using the disk or the ISO; I just get the message "Original disk could not be found or authenticated". It's obviously reading the disk fine because I was able to reinstall the game using it, but that didn't help at all, so does anyone have any idea what I can do to be able to play it again?

Thanks for any help

P.s. The game is Dawn of War Soulstorm. It's 5/6 years old and if there aren't already pirate copies available then that's just because no one cares, so all this is doing is stopping me from playing the game I own.

This message appears when you are trying to install it , or after it has been installed and you want to run it ?

The message appears after installation when I try to play it. Installation includes verifying my cd key and seems to work fine, but once it's done and I click play the message appears.

Nick3306: It may well be illegal but those laws are there to protect intellectual property and I definitely wasn't trying to spread it around the internet. Like I said, the game is over half a decade old so it's probably widely available anyway.

@PredatorRules My disc drive is an external one and it's very noisy and annoying. I also prefer the convenience of just having to click on the game I want to play.

Ok so basically you need to Mount it with Demon Tools - this program is legal and all BUT some companies don't like it when the program runs because they may sense you're trying to pirate the game, I hope it works with your game.

Well , Since you own it then downloading a crack to play it isn't illegal , so go ahead and download one.

This, even if you made a legal copy for personal use some games have built-in protections against launching when the CD/DVD is on a virtual drive.

Sounds like you need daemon tools or. No cd crack. If this is your game all should be legal.

Thanks guys the problem is now sorted. It's kinda embarrassing but it turns out I had left the virtual drive running this whole time. I thought it was part of the Image mounting software and so would close when I closed that and restarted my computer etc, but I guess not.
