ok guys i have some problem and hope that u guys can help or i have to buy a new dvd writer

the problem is that i was just burning 1 of my dvds and went downstairs for some works (i use nero)

when i came back the dvd was out as in it was burned as nero ejects the burned disk but my computer was turned off mayb coz of the fluctuation that happened or coz of my old UPS but today have bought a new UPS for 800VA

so now the problem is that all system works great but the dvd rom doesnt burn

even when it starts but when it completes it says failed burning but i see the disk has been written but the dvd doesnt work

so i burn a cd rom and it burns without problem

its a LG dvd rom

any help on how to restore that the dvd is recognised by the dvd rom and burn disks again

Or try to uninstall the drive, plus unplug it, plus check for burn signs, then put it back in.

How old is the drive and how many burns has it done?

DVD drives these days only last 2 to 3 years or 2000 burns. Honestly from the sounds of it, you just need a new drive. Yours seems to be crapping out. It happens.

I think I had the same problem as you a month ago. Your DVD drive is just broken. I could burn this and then when i tried to read the disk no luck. I could install games but not play them, etc etc. I just when out and bought a Phillips DVD Drive and ive been fine since. LG is a bad brand imo.

It's a long shot, but if you had a power fluctuation it may have corrupted the chipset on the dvd drive. Look into the manufacturers site and see if they have either a flash or an update for that unit. Can't hurt.
