Need help with heroes of might an magic 5

i have installed the game and when i double click it, it says to plz insert the original HOMM5 disc yes i have tried to reinstall it and yes the disc is original

here are my system specs

OS: XP 32 bit

GeForce 9400 GT

2 GB ram

Have you tried disabling programs like daemon tools, alcohol120 etc etc? Sometimes that can be the problem.

This is probably a problem with the SecuROM copy protection. You may have some programs installed SecuROM does not like. Like Deamon tools or Alcohol 120%. If you have such programs try uninstalling them.

You could try to contact SecuROM to ask for help.

(If you have the CD version, disk 4 should be in the driver, but from your post, I gather that you have the DVD version.)

Try downloading the latest patch for HOMM5. Try looking in this thread (read it fully) for info.

It basically says the EU 1.06 patch has no copy ptotection, and advises you to "install 1.04 (Cumulative patch), 1.041, 1.05 and finally 1.06"

Edit: I do not know if this applies to the US version, but I guess it will be the same.

DON'T install any patch, I had lots of problems with downloaded patches, just use the updater located in the game folder, it'll be done in no time, unlike searching for the patches looking if it's US or UK, if it really is the next version that you must install. There's a reason for the updater they integrated, just like Bioware did with NWN.
