New Computer Keeps Freezing

ok let me start off saying im not very good with computer but i need some incite on whats wrong... my dad recently built for a me a new computer that i would love if it was for not the constant freezing... the computer freezes in what seems random spots, but never when im just surfing the web or leeting it sit idle. it freezes when im playing a game, installing something, opening a file, or even sometimes at boot when the vista logo appears. there is no error message or sound, the screen just freezes. im not sure whats going on, it was only built 2 days ago, but beggan freezing when i first started playing on it... ive done memcheck, ive checked all temps, checked for hdd errors, but all are clean

my specs are (atleast from what i can get)

when i first noticed the crash all i had installed on the computer was microsoft office, fraps (which came with the GPU), and FarCry 2. i want to play my new pc badly... please help

Sounds like a beast, too bad you're getting errors. Lemme guess...all IO freezes up too right? Try downclocking the video card; maybe there's something wrong there. I woulda pegged it as the CPU but... 1000W PSU, even at 40% efficiency should deliver more than enough amps on each rail. It could also be a BIOS error, make sure anything SLI-related is disabled in BIOS. If all else fails, do a complete reformat and see if you get the error *before* you install anything or even plug in an ethernet cable.

did you build it yourself? update all drivers, windows, and bios

download realtemp to look at your cpu temps, use gpuz to check your gpu temps

just read up on stuff so thought i would ask, does anybody think the securom from FarCry2 could screw with my computer?

also i read that maybe my psu isnt giving enough power to my motherboard for it to function properly... i havent played with the bios except when i flashed it to a newer one.. as for overclocking, ive actually yet to do that either, its running the same way right out of the box

just in case i touht i should post temps, these are when i run FarCry2 at all max (at least for 10min before it crashes) GPU 75C , CPU 41C, MOBO 46C ill be getting crysis for Christmas i believe so i hope my GPU doesnt overheat from that game

I think that maybe its ur power supply.

thats what i was thinking, but the only problem is, i dont know what i can do to fix that :P
