My old 8800 GT just died on me yesterday, and I'm looking for something new. My limit is $150, and someone suggested the GTX 560 for $129. Is this a good buy? Do you guys have other suggestions?

460 or 6850.

Preferably 256-bit version of the 460.

Could you maybe explain what's wrong with the 560SE? I have no problem with Amd, brand is not important to me. I'm in Canada so prices are a bit more expensive. Newegg has it starting at $149 before taxes, but I may have found cheaper alternatives but I'm not sure what to look for in the different models

You can pick up the plain GTX 560 for $160 and after rebate its $145, and its faster then all other cards stated above. Just make sure you have a psu that has two pci-e power connectors. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162084 If your psu does not have two pci-e power connectors then a 6850 would be the better choice with a psu lmit.

I'm not sure how to check that on my psu, but here is a link to the one I have

Again, I'm in Canada so my options are a bit different. If you could find something on www.newegg.ca or www.tigerdirect.ca for me instead of the American version, I'd really appreciate it.

That is a good PSU you can go faster than 6850 like at 6870 or 560 Ti if you can afford it. But at $150 yeah a 6870 or GTX 560 on sale/rebate could work. 560 GTX for $144 after rebate right now, GTX 560Which Nvidia Graphics Card

HIS HD 6850 for a $149is the best card in your price range. A stock HD 6870 is pretty much a GTX 460 a overclocked one like this is just on the tail of a GTX 560(non ti).

Also these video cards leave your old 8800 GT in the dust.

Get ready to re-install Crysis ;)

I know ocz may not be the best brand for psu, but Im sporting a 570 and they draw more power than a gtx 680, 7970, 6970, etc. Mines being a 520w *points sig. If he can stretch the budget the 6870 will still be well under the capability of the psu.

The psu has only one pci-e connector , its not just because its OCZ, which means it cant support a GPU that has a 150w+ load safely. And adapters should only be used on the gpu that is getting at least 90%(and or 25w or less from adapter) of its power directly from the pci-e and or dedicated pci-e power connector. GTX 560ti or higher has a TDP of 170w+.

Also your HX520 psu has two pci-e power connectors, also note that your psu can supply 480w through the single 12v rail. that OCZ can only put 240w through each rail. and only has one pci-e connector.

Thank you for your help guys, it seem most people are in agreement that I should go with the 6850. Once again though, I'm unsure of what I should be looking for specifically with the different models. I seemed to have found 3, which one is the best of the 3? or all they all the same?

Any particular reason? Just curious, because #2 is $12 cheaper but they appear identical
