This is my first PC build and need some help. I plan on buying this processor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103675

And this MOBO:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131647

Can I use the memory that came per-installed on my older computer:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01070884&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&site=null&key=null&product=3440626

Any help or advice would be very helpful. I have tried researching this but just find a lot of technical jargon. Thanks in advance!

You won't be able to. Your old memory is DDR2, your new board makes use of DDR3.

Any suggestions for a MOBO that will support both the new processor and the old memory?

I'm not too familiar with boards in the part of the market, but here is a list of boards I narrowed down that will support your memory as well as your processor: LINK

Thanks. And these wont bottleneck the CPU? I only ask because there are MOBO's made specifically for AM3 processors.

It'll work fine, there won't be a bottleneck. There are slight differences in the chipsets but the overall experience should be similar besides the difference in RAM.

These boards are getting hard to find but are out there.

There are more boards, seems more for Intel than amd. The best one; I don't know If It was ever released the 790GX-8D from MSI. I think Foxconn was first with one of these boards for Intel a long time ago when DDR 3 was around 3-600$.

Your best bet would be to ask the board manufactures If they make a board like that.

Why dont you take the step to DDR3? I mean your already changing the CPU and MB, might as well go for DDR3. Plus your new build will last longer and DDR3 memories are dirt cheap atm.

OK I made some revisions. Just need some opinions.

Processor:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103871

MOBO:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186189

Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147111

Memory:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134812,http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134657

I am upgrading from:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01070884&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3440626

I also would be transferring a GTX 260 from the old PC along with the PSU and DVD drive.

All of these items would work well together, and give me a huge boost in performance correct?

Also a silly question but, the new motherboard has an integrated LAN for me to access the web correct. lol.

Any opions would be helpful, Thanks!

Yeah, in the UK DDR3 is actually cheaper than DDR2... I agree you should atleast get DDR3 now so when they time comes you don't have to go changing your Mobo again just to use DDR3.
