ok i will try make a list using new egg
First off you want your pc to be future proof. S thats rule out current intel lga775 platform and that leaves you with either AM3 of AMD ort the expensive i7 of intel. i7 platform will be more future proof though
Motherboard- MSI x58 SLI - $160
Case-coolermaster 690 -$70keeps your component cool is mid tower and there is room to work in it and is not to big and is good looking
Psu- you never wanna go cheap on the PSU because you compromise the health of your PC - ocz 600w $75
Graphics Card-you didnt mention gaming but even a $100 vga can play games at 1080p all high settings at vast majority of games Ati 4850 $100 great, fast card ( it plays crysis at 1680x1050 all high settings) and quiet when not gaming
CPU-Intel Core i7 -$280
RAM-i7 based m/b work with ddr3 and work faster when triple channel is enabled and that requires 3 sticks of ram ocz 6gb ddr3 -$100
Hard disk- Since you are gonna use it for multimedia i suggest at least 1TB disk -Seagate barracuda $90
Tv tuner- so that you can record TV aver media -$50 ( contains both an analog and a digital reciever)
dvd writer- LG $25
add $10 for an extra 120mm fan for the case and you are set
Total- 960 us dollars and even outside US where prices are higher i dont think this build can go higher than $1100-1200 so thats in your budget can play games record digital and analog tv programs can hold a big amount of data thanks to 1tb disk
Hey everyone, Am planning on building a multimedia/gaming computer end of 09 and need a lil' help. Jared_AKA_God
End of 09 - as in almost 4 months from now? Come back with that question in 3 months, computer hardware changes too rapidly to ask that question so far in advance. By then new, better Dx11 video cards should be out. Who knows, Blu-ray drive prices might fall to the point where it will be worthwhile regardless of your friends PS3 (especially being at/near the holidays).
