There is no way you can include an OS... Not unless you knock it down to a single core and go with onboard graphics.

Oh, ok. Then the one I have included should work if he is willing to pay about an additional $10 for shipping.

It's not possible for $350 dollar budget for everything... Maybe if you take away the wireless adapter, the CD/DVD drive, and keyboard and mouse you could possibly fit it in tightly.

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136098

Dvd/Cd Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118030

Get this CPU instead. Just because that Athlon II was a quad-core doesn't make it faster

It's cheaper to go with the combo because you save $15 on the combo. So do you guys think it's possible with $55 to buy a case/ram and psu? If not i'll push the budget to $370 and that gives us $75 to work with.

Okay. A quick question because i may of found a solution. How much better is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227289 over this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034 As in is it worth paying an extra 20-30$ if your a hardcore gamer that plays crysis and such. Because if so, I got that for $30 a couple months ago, So... I'll pay the extra $35 use that, and give him that XMS2.

Case / PS

Motherboard

CPU

HDD

DVDRW

Ram

network card

Kboard

Mouse

Video card

All this = $3 left i believe. $347 total.

I gotta check if case has 3 usb. BTW your friend should stop being a cheap ass and spend like $25 more and get a real video card, that was the most difficult part of the system, they are all just so bad to choose from for under $40.

Can someone look into this. Because if the OCZ with the spreaders that is ddr2 1066 is worth spending $30 over the XMS2, i'll give him my XMS2 which is worth $50, for $30, and i'll pay the $35 for the upgrade to The OCZ.

Hi Hey Red one thing you should check when choosing a mother board is the CPU support.

I was looking to put together an economy build for a friend. On the AMD side you have to be

careful. The Athlon II X4 quads are pretty new and some boards need a bios update to support

them. If you don't have an older processor to set the bios you'll be in trouble. I found a new

Gigabyte board that supports all the new AMD processors. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128407

The Biostar board you chose has to be board revision 6X. Maybe Newegg can check that for you. According

to the Biostar site board version 6X will support all the new processors. http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/cpu_support.php?S_ID=433

You won't see really any performance over faster RAM. It's not worth it unless you are overclocking.

Ok. I've managed to get everything for $350 but with no ram. That includes a keyboard and a wireless adapter. I'm thinking of using my IDE cd/dvd drives that way we can save $30, and it'd go down to $320. Then i'd spend the $50 on ram and it'd be $370. What do you guys think of this combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811148030 ?

That works, but you also have to keep in mind that it would take around $13 to ship the case.

Just get him a dual-core since he wanted one in the first place and it will also be easier on your budget.

Hey how's it going? After reading through all posts I've come to a conclusion:

You can either get the first system we built together but leave yourself very little space for peripherals and other useful things, or get a greatly weaker dual core system with a 43xx/94xx with which he definitely can't play newest games (maybe on low, or even not at those settings) but also get some nice quality peripherals. The choice is yours.

You gotta start with the case/PS, you cant put components into nothing. Case/PSU Motherboard Processor DVDRW Ram Video Card Peripherals Thats the order at which somethign with such a low price range has to be built in. Why? Because video cards have a lot of options and if you choose somethign too big to start you are hooped on the math at the end. Case/PS nee to be adequate. Processors, motherboard, have no more then a couple options at best. Again at such a low amount of money to deal with. The more money you got to go towards a system the more you can sorta be all over the place and be picky-choosey.

After MRI --> $363. I'm going to tell him that either we drop the peripherals or we drop to a dual core. If we drop peripherals the price is at $345. After MRI ----> $325. Then all i have to do is order parts, and when ram gets a deal for $30 i buy it. Or... We see if he has a dvd/drive. ORRRRR do you think it would be a good idea to use my old IDE drives?

After MRI --> $363. I'm going to tell him that either we drop the peripherals or we drop to a dual core. If we drop peripherals the price is at $345. After MRI ----> $325. Then all i have to do is order parts, and when ram gets a deal for $30 i buy it. Or... We see if he has a dvd/drive. ORRRRR do you think it would be a good idea to use my old IDE drives?

Drop to a dual-core and don't worry because even a dual-core is a miracle on that budget.

I would drop but from what i hear you need a quad for flight simulators. I might be able to fit it in the budget if i drop the peripherals. I'm going to talk to him soon. And if he has a cd/dvd drive then i'm in luck :P Even then would it be a bad idea to use my ide dv/cd drive?

And a game that he tried on my computer that he loves is HAWX. So.

Alright man good luck! Oh and like my avatar by the way? I know it's a bit fanboyish but it's mostly Half-Life 2 anyway. Yes I do like AMD
