I noticed steam had downloaded it, so I fired up the game after the download had finished and noticed that areas that suffered from bad fps such as(from my experience)white run and solitude seemed much better. Just thought id give the heads up.

Sorry if this has been posted already, I havnt seen any posts though.

The performance is almost flawless now. Nearly 60 fps everywhere. Only place where it dropped to 40 fps was in one of the corners in Markarth looking to the middle of the city. (One of the worst performing points in this game)

And this is with tons of texture mods.

Wonder what it would run like on my old rig now.

Edit: Thats completely maxed out. Incl. 8xAA, 16xAF

ya it runs pretty awesome now, had the patch since it was in beta. I can play on ultra on my 5850m now, dont run fraps but doesnt seem to go below 30 fps even in the big cities during the day while looking at everything. On my 460 in my desktop, its smooth as heck. Wish they could fix their older games like this.

Me too. I used to get bad frames looking down the steps from dragonreach into whiterun and I still do now.

If the performance has increased, it isn't by a lot; however, I've noticed a good uptick with 1.3.

I may try upping my graphics settinsg to see if that has been improved.

I think the performance gains are mainly for newer video cards, Geforce 500 series and Radeon HD 6000 series, maybe a little older too. If you have an older video card, you probably won't see much improvement. Basically, the game was not optimized for newer hardware until now. Maybe improvements for quad- and higher core as well.

I get amazing FPS...

I use to get 50 fps in whiterun using 1.3, skyboost r3:

Now I get:

Game runs pretty much flawless everywhere in the game. I never see it drop below 57fps:

All this is with ugrids 7, everything beyond ultra settings, some high up retextures etc etc... Game runs flawlessly.

1.4 should have been the game at launch, with CK

no doubt was rushed, i mean the PS3 version doesnt even work, they should have delayed it a few more months

still a few problems, shadows are still crap, draw distance is still messed up (crashes if you put it too high), framerate in some areas is still pretty bad

hopefully 1.5 or 1.6 will fix it

Yeah, I have to agree. Still hasnt' kept me from having fun with the game. I have over 80 hours, but it definitely wasn't polished at launch that's for sure.

Nah, never tried u grids 9. Alrighty seem to be hitting my ram usage (jumps up to 715mb video ram usage after texture mods), and 7 seems to be the sweet spot for how well the game is running on my computer.

Well, I just tested Skyrim myself with the new patch. HUGE improvement. I am one of many that have reported unstable performance with Skyrim. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the improvements. Points of interest like Riverwood used to run in the 20-30's now run at 60fps. Cities like Morthal, Solitude, Markarth, run at very good frame rate, never dropping below 45fps, but would run at 45-60fps give or take.

I am using: GTX 580, 1200p resolution, Ultra settings, no mods applied.

To those who normally don't notce the change: What FPS do you average? And did you use the latest drivers? Because I noticed it a lot on my setup, got a huge boost!

These are 1080p shots BTW. I have driver 295.51 and on Ultra I average 50-100FPS in towns and normally 70+ outdoors. I have never gotten over 100 in towns and outdoors until now.

What a great patch.

I have EVERYTHING maxed out with 8xAA and I get 10-15 more fps in the most demanding places (Dragonsreach, Markath) than when I had 2xAA and high shadows.

Maybe I'm just unlucky but my minimum fps isn't 45 fps but more like 27 fps. Better than 17, though.

The patch really helped my framerate, like a LOT! I used to be around 28 at the worst in towns, but now it doesnt appear to drop below 45 on ultra, they really did a fine job with this one :)

These results were with a GTX 560 ti and a first generation i7 920 @ 2.66

Its strange some of you arnt getting much of an increase, I cant exactly say whether Ive had better maximum frame-rates because I play the game with V-Sync on. I just noticed my minimum fps was a lot better. Areas like Solitude were like below 20.

Those who are still getting a low frame-rate might want to try different drivers.

I play with vsync on so it doesn't get better than 60 fps. I'm not exaggerating with the tons of texture mods either, my texture folder is almost 2 Gigs big, so that has an impact on the framerate and I enabled land shadows and treesreceiveshadows as well as ugridstoload 7 (draws more objects at once).

If I would test the game on ultra settings unmodded without vsync you would most likely see results more worthy for this kinda rig.

Good News! This is why I usually do not get games at launch. Waiting on Skyrim, so many other games to play too.

That and sales.

Now if only Batman AC (Dx11) could get some fixation like this.

I normally play with the game maxed out, ugrid 7, 8x AA 16x AF with HD texture mods for pretty much everything. Now whenever I load a new area my framerate drops to 4-5fps for a seemingly random amount of time then jumps back up to 60fps in an instant. I have been slowly disabling mods and it seems that RWT realistic water textures, Real Nightsky or dD enhanced blood is the culprit, I'm now getting 60fps everywhere like normal. I'm sure the mods just need to be updated but I don't know if anyone was having the sam problem, I will update this post if I find the culprit or the mods get updated.

The reason for the improvement in performance is that they finally implemented CPU optimization code paths.

For some reason they never did, and there was a mod a bit back that did what this patch does.

Your modern CPC is finally strtching it's legs a little bit.

I've given up on that game. It was amazingly fun, but with broken DX11 and missing saves, I'm scared to play it anymore. I beat the game, but won't touch the challenges until they fix it (if ever) I don't want to get 100% then poof.

OT: I'll have to up my AA and other settings to see if I get a boost. As I said, I have had to turn down some settings to get decent frame rates since launch, but maybe now the fixes have allowed me to almost max the game now.

Thats cool, I am not really in a hurry, so I will just give all those titles a little bit more time, I have a lot of games to finish.

Diablo III is the only other game I will have at launch.

Batman AC runs ALOT better now for me in DX11 after the last update. At launch it ran horribly, but now it runs pretty dang well! Only thing i have off is that Ambient Occlusion or what ever its called.
