I remember a greedy Bobby Kotick of Activision saying that he would like to make Call of Duty games subscription based. This quote that I'm not even going to attempt to look up cause im lazy was made shortly before Black Ops came out iirc. Which leads me to believe the next CoD game could possibly contain a subscription like setup.

Personally I would not pay for a subscription based CoD nor purchase it.

It's a good idea. Activision have already proven that people will pay out their butt for mediocre content, why shouldn't they add a subscription? Millions would subscribe. Hell, it would probably get more subscribers than WoW.

I think they might use a subscription fee, and the sad thing is millions of people will still play it. The only way I would ever pay a monthly fee for an FPS is:

1: Very good dedicated servers

2: All bugs, glitches and other stuff patched very quickly

3: New maps, weapons, content continually being released

I'd never pay a monthly fee for something else than an MMO. MMO fees are acceptable, since the game gets bigger over time, so the developers need something for their work, but Call of Duty? LOL. That would just be 100% horrible.

At this point you'd have to pay me to even play the game.

Honestly i did not know that statement was made. But really, Mr. Kotick could charge regardless of what Eric Hirshberg says. I wouldnt put it past Activision to do anything after the IW incident.

Activision would be lucky if they would get me playing a call of duty game , and THEY would pay ME every month.

What's stupid about it? Plenty of Devs have released non-mmos with subscription fees. There was Phantasy Star, APB, Crimecraft, Champions Onlin- Oh...

If you enjoy it and are going to play HUNDREDS of hours then I would happily pay a small monthly fee to keep them supporting it.

PS: WTF is wrong with Gamespot tonight? All of my posts are coming up with error messages and then I see it posted 4 times,,,grrr. Screw it, I cant be bothered to delete the reposts unless the fix it. I apologise in advance for the replicated posts.

I don't pay subscriptions for games in general. I also don't participate in games that allow people to pay to get better items on the scale of something like BF Heroes. Black Ops might be the last CoD product I purchase. I hope it comes back to bite them.

I can see it at least having some sort of store where you can buy extra stuff and give yourself an advantage.

NOTHING is clear yet. It will be an online game. Wharever it has only online and its on pc (so lower price and dedicated servers) wherever you pay monthly or its microtransaction...its all unclear. So ill wait for actual info and if it happens.

Yes if it meant constant maps, more indepth leveling system with constant add ons.. If I enjoy the game I will most likely spend at least 75 hours on it.. And thats a minimum.. Add in a constant updating service.. Than it may be much more.. It all depends what they will give.. They certain won't charge a MMO fee.. Probably like $5 a month.

Good points....if it does have constant added maps and updates into the ranking system and weapons, yes, I would pay (not $15 a month though)

No. I cannot see myself paying monthly for an FPS game even if it did bring additional weapons/maps. I don't see the added value this would bring.

Their propably gonna try the micro-transaction approach. It has worked wonders for dying mmo's, plus it's the supposedly "civil " way of promoting good competition among mmo's.

All i know is that no matter how good a game is, most people cannot afford more than one sub based game .If this becomes the norm, many sub shooters will start out overhyped to be great, but watch their game subs plummet after the free month is over..and the players go back to the subs they like the most.

I do enjoy them but compared to COD1, UO and even COD2 they kind of let me down in some ways, not to mention how cheap Veteran can be.:P

Right, because killing a bazzilion of nazis in cod2 with no sense of story or actually point or objective, made such a good singleplayer experiance. Might as well get points and rank up like in duty calls "super mega sergeant shooter person of the halo masterchiefs...ULTIMATE"
