Next Diablo 3 Character

I'm just curious what you guys think Blizzard will bring to the table for Diablo 3. We know that the Barbarian is the ONLY character they're bringing from D2 and the Witch Doctor, while having many similarities to the Necromancer, is actually a pretty unique character to add to the mix, instead of the usual fantasy based characters that are pretty standard to these types of games. (Warrior, Mage, Archer, bleh!)

I'm hoping they keep to the unique characters just like the Witch Doctor. I want to see stuff that fits the Diablo timeline, but is still completely different from your average fantasy MMO. What do you guys think? Do you have any unique ideas for characters or do you think Blizzard would be crazy not to bring back the usual stuff?

Oh yeah, they will just slightly change their appearance, give them new skills and obviously rename them.

Ya its logical, but silly at the same time. Maybe if they made one kinda like a demolition class. Sword fighting, gun toting, bomb making, pirate. hahaha, that almost works. Maybe you could pick pocket the towns folk as well :)

What I would like to see:

Barbarian - your standard brute force melee character

Witch Doctor - pets and magic component class

Crusader - your more heavily armored and balanced melee class. has some basic holy magic

Wizard - full blown magic class. should have many different routes to chose from like aoe, single focus, elements choice, dark magic ect

Ranger - mix between ranged and stealth. can go full force either bows/spears/ect or more melee stealthy type or maybe even a mix of both

terrian

that is all

DnD type monk that needs no weapon and heavy armour.

Btw Blizzard said the Witch Doctor is not a Replacement for the Necro, they said he'll be considered in an Expansion.

Me too, it's a really misleading thread title.

But on topic I think they will release some kind of paladin type character.

How about a sort of Steam Punk Trapper? Maybe in the theme of the Mechanists from Thief 2. A heavily armoured engineer type...

Ya I heard that too, that they had big big plans for him. The interview I read made it sound like he was going to be an NPC because the class was too perfect. But it looks like you're right, they might bring back many of the old characters in the expansion. Let's just hope that Blizzard isn't just saying this to make more people perchase the game. The thing I hated about necros is if you had a build that utilized corpses, it was rather useless for fighting bosses. I think that's why they went the way they did with the witch doctor.

Probably there will be some character that can change forms. What forms though I don't know.SpaceMoose

Ya you're probably right, although I really dont like characters like this, druid was my least favorite character. Maybe they could make a class that transforms into something kewl like a dragon for a single or short lived attack, instead of the perminent change like the druid.

I'd also love to see a class that makes its pets, like a chimara creator. So we can have something besides summonded demons or wolves by our side. Maybe even taking parts from many creatures in the game to create one crazy beast, that'd be sweet.

Well it's not too late :) Diablo looks cooler than ever so a few cool dragons wouldn't do harm to anyone as long as they don't look as good as Diablo and steal it's spotlight.

For shape shifting, tiger would be cool, rhino, bear and werewolfs (because they must be there too :))

I hope there will still be golems in Diablo 3, especially fire/lava golems.

Ya you're right about the lack of dragons in D3. But I guess what I meant was some kind of serpent. The usual crow, bear, wolf, tiger transformations are old news to me. But I'm not into class's like this, so my opinion really doesn't matter. I was necro, sorc, and amazon in D2. I just meant maybe we could have some sort of conjuror or mage that transforms into a snake every once in awile for a short-lived attack. I'd be into that.
