As someone (possibly Adrien_Werner?) posted on System Wars, the lack of mods and dedicated servers probably isn't a tactic to stop piracy, but it might actually be a way to stop people playing MW2 for years and years.

Most online shooters have mods and dedicated servers and the like, so players buy one (like TF2 or CS:S) and play it religiously for many years without ever needing to purchase anything else.

Activision don't like that, because they want to sell DLC, and because they want people to actually buy next year's COD game - so they're probably deliberately stopping the game from being user-friendly.

Just been playing COD4 and I like browsing through a huge list of servers, most with upwards of 40 people in. I picked exactly what I wanted to play and got some frantic non stop lag free action.

I then went to my 360, waited 4 minutes or so for matchmaking to find a game and ended up with a 5v5 match. It felt completely empty and was incredibly boring. The game ended prematurely when we all lagged out back to the lobby. This may be fine to console only players, but only cos they don't know how much better it is on pc.

There are already 2 million or more preorders for this game. Thats altogether but still a crazy high number. This game is going to popular forever so even if it uses Steam thats not a bad thing - you'll be able to play it for a long time. Long past the need to sell it.

What does "lots of Steam support" mean exactly? Obviously the game will be available through it, but will it also have for e.g. steam achievements, community features, dlc or something like that?ManicAce

I was wondering that as well.

If by "Steam Support" they mean "Will make sure it has no problems with Steam" then I dont think they should really advertise that as if its something extra because it would BE THE FREAKING JOB TO ENSURE THEIR PRODUCT WORKS WHEN PEOPLE SPEND 60 BUCKS ON IT!!!!!!!!

I swear, the balls on some of these publishers nowadays.

Activision is trying to prevent you from doing this, actually.
