its just madden, what would you rather have madden or starcraft 2?TerrorRizzing
Honestly? Madden.
We've had our fair share of real-time strategy games, and Starcraft 2 is just another same ol', same ol'. I would love to - just for once - have a football game on PC that's equivalent to what these next-gen consoles have been receiving. That would really come in handy during football season when all I can think about is football but I have nothing on the PC to play to satisfy my appetite.
Can someone please tell me why EA sports first decides to buy out the NFL license then refuses to make a pc version of the only football game available? Not even a comment on it just nothing. 3 years now and still no Madden and no word on why? And yea please dont even tell me "if you want to play it go buy a 360 or a ps3" because thats crap. Why would I spent $200 on a piece of crap console thats basically obsolete hardware wise compared to modern computers. This isnt about piracy either because EA has many titles on the pc. I think John Madden just hates computers? IDK I cant think of any other reason. Atleast let another company makes a stupid football like BLITZ or something for pc users?

So you're complaining that EA isn't porting out a Madden game that is just a POS rehashed version of a game created 10 years ago? Honestly...what has changed about the Madden franchise game over the past decade?
Maybe enhanced graphics? The names of players....obviously since teams are constantly changing.....
That's about it, isn't it? The controls suck, the animations suck and everything tied to Madden sucks. He's a horrible commentator and the only thing worse then his commentating is the Madden football games that keep getting pushed out the door every year.
Leave these kind of crappy games to the consolers. You're not missing out on anything except a bad game.

10 years ago? the franchise is in its 21st season (1990) and clearly you've not played it in some time, if at all, or you wouldn't make such comments regarding controls, animations, etc.
btw, substitute 'CoD' for 'Madden' in your rant and you may be on to something :|

My younger brother has had me play him in his Madden games over the past few years and they're just rehashed crap that EA spits out and people drool over it. I haven't purchased a Madden game since the Genesis era mainly due to reasons beyond my control of my older brother stealing all of our gaming systems (and games and football/baseball/basketball/comic cards and comic books....literally thousands and thousands of dollars of stuff) so he could support his newly found drug habit of using, buying and selling.
My younger brother has picked up almost every copy of Madden from the PS1 day through the first one that came out on the Xbox 360. The game is the same thing, over and over again. Controls are ruined one year, to be improved upon the next year.....but now an ability has been removed......the next year the ability is back, but the controls sucks again and also the animations are poorly done and it's hard to figure out if the WR or the CB caught the pass.....
I won't argue with you on CoD, it went from a good franchise to something spit out so fast just to make a buck that it sickens me. I haven't purchased a CoD game since Call of Duty 2 on PC, anything since hasn't really been not to my liking. I don't like the World at War, was poorly done. I don't care too much for Modern Warfare (it's alright) and MW2 is just garbage compared to the first one. I get first hand in all these games because my brother picks them up on the 360 or for his PC and I try them all.
So don't just make some assumption that I don't know what I'm talking about. My younger brother even complained about how much the most recent Madden game he had was worse then last years and how last years was better then the year before in such-and-such areas, but sucked in other areas......yet he was one of those guys that purchased the rehashed game every year, just to be irritated by glaring issues that are constantly fixed and broken with each release.

I think it was something like 7 years between the NES and SNES (in north america).
To be honest your entire rant makes little sense...who cares if it's outdated hardware? The games being made on them still look fantastic.
"To say that people dont like to play a game because they need a controller would be to spit in the face of that which is the Call of Duty franchise. Defining a game or it's release by it's genre alone is bad business especially when theres still a market for it."
They aren't defining it by genre...they are defining it by SALES. Not enough people buy Madden games on the PC...it's that simple. They just gave reason why they feel the sales are lacking...and it's probably true. People like playing sports games on consoles more than the PC due to a few key things.
Renevent42
Not sure how his entire rant makes little sense? This person is obviously a fan of the franchise as I was too a fan of the franchise. I too, would love to see it on the PC again. You can where I would agree, but I don't see where it makes little sense? He put his opinion out there, and it makes perfect sense if you read it correctly, word for word as I did.
Here is the biggest and most valid complaint that he has. EA bought the rights to NFL, incase you weren't aware of this. So there is one MAJOR issue right there. Because of that no other publishers like 2K or Sega can put out any Sports titles with real NFL Teams. Which is the only reason to play a Sports game to begin with. Which is extremely pretenious, and selfish of EA. Madden was always the most dominant game, but they started feeling pressure from 2K, because their games were better. What happens? They buy up the rights to the NFL and yank it from PC like the arrogant pricks that they are.
Also, since you're so set on his entire rant not making a lick of sense. Keep this in mind, had EA not bought the rights to the NFL games there would still be NFL games on PC published by 2K.
Did you happen to actually read his rant? It was a bunch of non-sense about hardware and the length of time between consoles and other stuff that has nothing to do with anything. You on the other hand, have a valid point regarding EA purchasing the license. However, you are assuming that if they hadn't 2K would also still be selling NFL games. That's simply conjecture...2K's NFL games could very well have met the same end as the Madden series (on the PC).You gotta chill out Renevent.
Aren't you the same guy that tears into everyone that objects to Ubi's DRM as well?
It is just gaming...cherish what you hold dear, but dont offend, be offended, or get angry over it.

Really?? EA completely disbanning Madden from PC's is wrong, especially after buying up the rights to create NFL games. Look, lets put this on a simple note. You-- Are not the only one that plays PC games, so your opinion of the matter while addressed is completely irrelevant and should be considered trolling. You should not have even made your post to begin with. You don't like Madden, okay? Move on, don't post here. I on the other hand as well as numerous others and probably thousands of other PC gamers do enjoy having a football title to play. The fact that EA bought up the rights to NFL titles is absolutely atrocious. Now, no other publishing company can release an NFL Title, thus there are no football games aside from Madde to play.
As for you whining about the game never evolving, well.. Have you seen the game in reality ever actually evolve aside from the added penalities? Which are also ported over to the game? No, not really.. I mean, there just is not much to be done with football games. Unless sometime in the near future we all start using jetpacks, then you can consider that a relative change within the game, if that would excite you to play it.
But, that's not even the point. In case you're too dimwitted to figure it out the Madden franchise is a simulation game as are all Sports games, aside from the Arcade style games such as Blitz. The game was created with the sole purpose, that you... The player, can control your favorite player, and your favorite team. Living out what they could not, or what they did. To have something like this around during Football season is a must for any football fan.
I understand that you're more than likely some RTS player, and don't really get much enjoyment out of your games anyway, considering not much enjoyment can come with an RTS. I'm sure you play Starcraft, and well that doesn't vary too much from the other games of it's genre. Sports games are Sports games. Football games are football games, Baseball games are Baseball games, and well RTS games are RTS games. The differences are slim to none and in the eyes of the beholder.

First off, EA purchasing the rights to the NFL's use of their property when it comes to making games is called strategic marketing; granted it kind of boarders on the line of having a monopoly, but any company can create and sell a Football game, except that EA only has the rights to use NFL names and players.
Secondly, EA is capitalizing on making a profit from the NFL side of things, more money is made on consoles when it comes to sport games, period. For them to waste the time and money to put the game on PC isn't in their best interest; which is why you don't see the franchise on the PC anymore. Let's face it, the game is just easier to play with a controller and on a big screen over a mouse+KB and maybe a 24" monitor.
So I see nothing wrong in their move to capitalize on their earnings for a franchise they paid for. I, too, think it sucks for other companies out there that now cannot compete, but business is business and they're all out to make a buck.
I'm not a big fan of RTS. And I don't see why you care what my opinion is of Madden. I don't care what your's is, you can like it....hate it....love it....doesn't matter to me.
It also doesn't help your argument you're trying to setup when at the end of your statement you clearly write out

Basically you slam me for hating Madden and the you go to say all football games are the same as any other football game, yet you're mad that specifically the Madden series has been shut off from reaching the PC community. So what if some other company made a football game on the PC.....would you play it then? Granted they can't use anything from the NFL, but it is a football game. If I had to venture a guess, it would be no, based on your strong argumentative side of how much you enjoy the series in some form or another due to it's ties to being able to use NFL names.
In the end, what matters in the Madden franchise is that the overall game performance is poor and it's never actually fixed to bring out the best possible value that it can provide. It's just rehashed, period. If the games were well made, then people like me that don't care too much for sport type games, wouldn't have anything to complain about if they did have to play the games.
So you're angry that the NFL doesn't have a company to represent it on the PC, that's your problem. Acting like a prick on the boards here isn't going to change that. I don't understand your reasoning for attacking me on the boards and making assumptions about who I am or what I like or what I do. I clearly stated my opinion, you don't have to like it, I'm not forcing it upon you.
As I said in my first post, leave the poorly made games to consolers (granted all gaming platforms have poorly made games, I just find Madden one more that's not included on the PC side of things). If you wish to play one of these games, pick up a console and have fun, I'm not stopping you.
As I think about this as I finish off my reply, accusing me of "trolling" and then posting your response would actually lead me to believe that you're trolling just to evoke a response from me. Thus forcing me to (you're not actually forcing me, but I thought it would be fun) reply and also look like I'm trolling just to evoke a response from you; just so we can go back and forth about our opinions........huh, if I actually cared a little more I'd think this was interesting. But I don't, so I'll return to my regularly scheduled gaming and enjoy my non-Madden PC life.
