Im thinking of buying this pc for gaming, and was just wondering how good it acctually is, because im pretty bad with computers :S

im looking to be able to play pretty low spec games like WOW, but also higher ones like Age Of Conan and Lord Of The Rings Online, The Witcher, and spore too.

Processor - AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 250 3.00GH

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P nForce 430 DDR2

Memory - Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel

Graphics - Asus GeForce GTS 250 512MB GDDR3

Harddrive - Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 500GB SATA II

Optical- LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter

also, how easy would it be to upgrade this PC if say, a game comes out next year and my PC aint good enough....?

thanks

That motherboard is your weakest link. It's old as dirt, won't overclock well, only supports PCI-e 1.1, has severely limited SATA options (we're talking 1 hard drive and 1 optical drive), and is just generally a piss-poor piece of hardware compared to modern offerings. Also, we'll need the power supply information, but I suspect it's some basement-bargain 500w POS that's barely up to snuff.

OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply, i can also go upto about 650w

as for the motherboard, what if i used a "Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AMD 770 DDR2 Motherboard"?

is stuff like the graphics cards and the RAM any good btw?

cheers

I am thinking about buying a new laptop right now, seeming I've had my old desktop for 5 years now and it doesn't quite do justice to all the new games. I'm not an avid gamer, but I do play the Total War series and just recently I got Empire: Total War for my Birthday. I know my desktop won't be able to handle it (it can barely play Medieval 2: Total War.) System requirements for the game include a 2.4 GHz processor. I've built a machine to have all the other specs the game requires. I want some advice on whether I should get an Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz processor or an Intel Core2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz processor for my laptop. The prices are relatively similar so money doesn't matter. I'm just looking at performance and maybe energy efficiency. I'm pretty new to this so it might be a stupid question. Any advice I can get is appreciated though. Thanks :)

Oh, I barely put the specs up and that's probably the part you'll want to see most. I'm leaning towards the Quad processor so that's what I'll use. I know this machine is pricey, but I've been saving for a long time now and I almost have enough :) Here it is: Alienware M17x Intel Core2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz processor Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit) Dual Nvidia GTX 280M SLI graphics 1920x1200 (1200p) 17" screen 4 GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1060 MHz 500GB 7,200 RPM HDD DVD Drive All I really want is to be able to play Empire: Total War, but I want it to run without a hitch. Is this system enough?

yeah definantly, that card can run crysis medium to high so you should be fine with the rest of the games, i got the card because it was cheap, but you should also consider the Geforce GTX260 Core 216 896MB video card, its on sale for 146.99 at newegg with this coupon and after rebates

That is pretty good, except you wont be able to upgrade it much because of the CPU. But it is good, maybe medium-high on every game.
