i can't use antialiasing because of the hdr. i can't use antialiasing and hdr together.all the other settings are on high.
and in stalker it happens the same. i have average framerate 70-90fps and suddenly it drops to 30-35.is it normal guys?
in stalker i use the same res 1280x1024.the drop difference is about 40 fps it's very big number.
what if i had a pc than gives the oblivion 20fps?at open areas -10fps or what?is it normal?
[QUOTE="Lonelynight"]I thought the 8 GeForce series cards are suppose to be able to do both AA and HDR together?RK-Mara
And you can. You just have to force it through control panel.
Can you do this with a GeForce 7 series too?
Oblivion is not well optimized. I run it with all the setting on max, carl's texture pack III (eats your memcard), streamline (oblivion "optimizer") and oblivion optimizer.
I'm getting 20-30 fps in the wild. 8800gts, e6600, 2gb ddr800mhz. So i quess your fps sounds right.

Nope. Just for 8 series like it's supposed to be. Oblivion just doesn't recognize the 8 series, so you have to force it.

Ok, thanks for explaning it
Dunno if anyone's still having problems, but I found even with a 9800GTX that with antialiasing enabled I had a horrible slowdown (from 70fps down to 6fps sometimes!) when Antialiasing - Transparency is set to Supersampling in the nVidia control panel.
It affects the antialiasing on leaves and foliage in particular, and is enabled when AA is set to 2x or more in the Oblivion settings. Supersampling hammers the graphics card, and gave me 6-15fps when looking at a lot of trees (looking behind you just after coming out of the sewers for the first time was a good test). Multisampling gave me a steady 50fps when looking at the same trees, Transparency AA Off gave me a steady 70 fps, regardless of where I was looking.
Image quality doesn't suffer much, particularly if I'm using multisampling, and though I haven't tested yet, I'm sure Stalker suffers from exactly the same problem.
Hope this helps... Hopefully this thread topping the google list fo "Oblivion Antialiasing Framerate" should get the information to the people who need it! :D
