He doesn't like the game if he completed it in 10 hours.
Neither do I though. I think it can't get more boring then Oblivion.

Thank you for your enlightening opinion, but nobody freaking asked for it, ok?

I have to be asked for my opinion in order for me to state it because...? Also, you asked for it in your OP anyway.
If you just strictly focus on the main quest, no exploring and from one mission to the next, you probably could beat it in ten hours.
It all depends on how idependantly he beat it
Did he use a guide? Or hints off the internet?
If so, that's probably why he beat it so quickly.
The main point is that Oblivion is at it's best in the later parts of the guilds, especially the Fighter's Guild and the Theive's guild.
Even if you play it on it's easiest difficulty the game takes a great deal of time to 'complete'. I doubt that many people can say that they've really 'beaten' or 'completed' the game, due to the fact that there are so many quests. I've completed well over 100 and I'm still finding them all over the place. :)

I was stunned to have completed everything in roughly 45 game hours logged over a week. I even checked to see if there were any other quests remainingwith the Construction Set, but there was nothing left. This after it took me about a year to fully complete Morrowind with both add-ons.
Ok, so the main quest in oblivion is supposed to take around 40 hours to complete right? Then someone please explain how my brother beat it in around 10?velocity99
We don't know your brother, so how can we possibly comment on how he completed the game?
I don't know where you heard about the main quest taking 40 hours, because I've never heard that or believed that to be the case, and 10 hours actually sounds about right if you focus exclusively on the main quest alone.
What really is the point of this question? Do you want your money back or something? We can't help you there, and you would be better advised complaining to Bethesda if you feel you have been short-changed.
Personally I've spent at least 400 hours in the game, with several characters I created doing different quest paths, and feel I got more than my money's worth. In a way, you get out of the game what you put into it.

That's a little rude TBH. And you did ask for feedback so lighten up a bit.
Anyway, I don't know how that's possible other than to blow through the main quest while reading a walkthrough with everything on easy. I've put 50+ hours into the game and I've only just rescued martin from kvatch. There's a lot to do.

Yes the main quest is short. Nevertheless it is an adadvantage. The main quest was so freakin' boring that I would fell asleep over the PC if it lasted a bit longer.
I don't think one can really "beat" Oblivion. The main quest in Vanilla Oblivion is only a small portion of the game, I always figured that it was designed to give you a tour of the world, then once you complete it you can back track and complete each individual quest in each town.
They might also mean without fast travel. Other things might be involved, such as recruiting more soldiers from other citiesbatthumb
The 'recruiting soldiers' section just required you to enter...what, six Oblivion gates? They only take 3-5 minutes each, so it won't add a huge amount of time to the main quest.
No, i'm pretty sure i heard "the main quest will take you around 40 hours to complete" the keyword being "main" and not "including some sidequests".velocity99
Well, whoever you heard it from was exaggerating. The main quest is only about 10 hours long - doing every quest in the game should take about 40-60 hours (although 80% of them are dead boring).
Oblivion is a very tiny game compared to the rest of the series.BounceDK
completely agrre wiv you u couldt of put it better morrowind was the best of the series played oblivion on 360 and it was good but not as good as morrowind and i just need 2 say stop bloody complaining u get free mods u get 2 create more missions and so-on usin the construction set we just get the game and the mods and addons thru xbox market place which is waste of money. i still plzy morrowind i only get bored cecause of the graphics and the combat system, would b amazing if they made morrowind agen but wiv oblivion graphics and combat system.
If you're done playing after 10 hours, then you haven't experienced much of the game. There's the quest lines for each of the guilds, completing the arena, the infinite number of side quests, and just random exploring. Then there's all the content from the addons/expansions. The main quest is really just a small part of the game, I think its really just there to give people some closure to a game that never really ends until you get bored.
Some of my friends didn't even really try to complete the main quest and they still had fun with the game.
I completed every single thing in Oblivion in 80 hours, 126 hours total with the expansion and all the official mods. So yeah, it's tiny.If you're done playing after 10 hours, then you haven't experienced much of the game. Its because you didnt do side quests.
I too was disappointed with the main storyline quest; not only did I finish it in about three days, but I only made it to level 5 by the time I was done with it. I left in on my hard drive for a month or two before I came back to it.
Then when I did come back, I told myself I wouldnt touch the storyline campaign, and when I did I would only do each chunk every other level. So, I wouldnt go to Weynon Priory and Kvatch until level 2, then I wouldnt meet Baurus until level 4 and get the books, etc.
This forces you to seek out the side quests, and imo a lot of them are far more entertaining than the storyline quest. Melee fighter? Join the fighters guild and advance through the ranks! Magic caster? Join the mages guild and defeat an evil group trying to take your guild down! Stealthy assassin with an evil streak? Join the dark brotherhood (my personal favorite!)!
The list goes on, and some of the quests are awesome. One quest even lets you go inside a painting and its really a trip as you fight off these painted trolls and rescue the guy inside. In addition, there are deadric shrines all over the place which give you special items for completing quests. Simply walk up, talk to the people there, and talk to the statue.
I highly recommend giving Oblivion a second chance, and treat it as an open-ended FPS-RPG hybrid. Explore, do side quests, etc.
