I've played Oblivion last year, on a Sapphire 5770 (i5 750, Gigabyte UD3 and 4GB RAM) and had the same problems as with my 8800GTS 512MB, in that the game had a slight stutter when running through the fields with lots of grass. Had everything maxed out, with object shadows and personal shadow as well. In recurring peaks, Oblivion just needs a lot of resources...

I didn't have a problem with my 8800gts on standard max settings, on modded settings it stuttered but then i'ld quadroupaled the view distance.

Maybe you had a better CPU (I ran an E8400 at the time, on an Asus P5K-E wifi mobo with win XP-Pro 32-bits SP2 and 4GB RAM@800MHz) or your 8800GTS was from a better batch... who knows?

Maybe you had a different 8800GTS? There are three versions, two are based off the G80 chips: 8800GTS 320MB and 640MB. The third (and much better version) is the 8800GTS 512MB; G92 chip.

I used to have two of the 512MB versions and they ran anything I threw at them (aside from Crysis) at max settings.

I had the latter, an Asus EN8800GTS TOP 512MB, which is indeed a G92...

I cant get dual video cards, but i was looking at something with about 1 GB. and yea, oblivion's being a bi*ch corrupted saves and sh*t Unstable game. anair4

What continues to make you believe the amount of graphics memory is a good indicator of performance?

Seriously, a lot of ram on an Intel IGP is like having Willy Wonka's chocolate factory with no Oompa Loompas.
