You don't really know Generals then and shouldn't be discussing of it, Generals has everything I mentioned there and more, hell you could literally control the guns aim on the humvee manually for crying out loud!

I knew Generals. What I'm saying is that I don't remember that sort of thing being a large part of the other C&C games previous to Generals. I didn't like Generals. Most other people didn't like it either, possibly because of that sort of thing. Now, I did like the original Command and Conquer, and Red Alert. Did you know the other C&C games besides Generals?

I always liked to play C&C series no matter the setting, but yeah it got dull with Generals and this altho it is a very good product it still has the old flaws.

First it's a RTS game, why the heck is the view then locked so close to the ground? If I want to play strategy I want to see some more of the battlefield not just 10m x 10m zone. Heck I have to scroll through my base, this says how zoomed in this is. Now I'm not talking about the SupCom view options, which is the best thing to happen to RTS games, but a bit more freedom would be nice to have. Now in sarcasm I might say one Mammoth tank takes 1/8 of my screen and it isn't to far off.

The maps again, this is the demo, but I bet there wont be any decent sized maps. C&C is stuck way too much in the past. The skirmish map available in the demo is very small for 1v1 and this says a lot. If you pump out 30 units they reach already to the enemy base. Buildings (if you choose to build everything there is) there's just enough room, which is bad. And in true fashion of C&C games, for air units you need to build **** loads of "airfields". So if you want 12 birds, you need 3 airfields and that alike. This is so '90  I really dislike game decisions like this.

The units are nice tho, altho some might have the feeling to be overpowered like thos railgun soldiers, forgot the name, but if you have 20 of those you basicly won, and it's not hard to get 20 of those and play strategicly with them. you just place them close to a tiberium field and they kick every harvester put some tanks and other units behind to get them fast cover if the enemy attack and you're sound.

Artillery in this game is bad as it always was. Range of fire "5m". No real great uses for a unit that has a lot of potential. And superweapons work in singleplayer pretty well, in skirmish I though they're already tonned down, at least the ion cannon did not destory a building just a notch away from it's centre beam. They are "crap" superweapons and always were, but considering they're very easy to get I think they are ballanced.

Now as I didn't play multiplayer obviously I don't know if it's there, but the timer of superweapons was always annoying for me. Why should the enemy know I have 2:45 until I can fire my superweapon. This is something that should be hidden and the guy I'm playing against should be using his radar or scouts to find out if I've build a SW already or not and if I did, let him live in fear a bit of when will I strike.

Well that sums it up a bit, it's a very nice C&C game, but I'd like it more if we were in the '90s, the game did not evolve enough. The "eSport" features it brings might fuel it with some life, but I guess it wont be a Starcraft replacement or Wc3 replacement for that matter and this is what the developer is hinting with this special spectator and commentator features. The gume just misses some depth. But maybe I'm totaly wrong on this one.

played the skirmish a bit more against medium ai.. yeah, the game's officially fun for me. the games are a lot faster than most other RTS's out now (the ai and i both had superweapons up around the 10 minute mark), and it does sort of become a battle of throwing lots of expendable units at each other. nod can stealth waaaay too much stuff. XD and the ion cannon is still beautiful, ended up using it twice to clear out laser-infested areas covered by stealth gens.

Great game. After SupCom I really want to zoom waaaaaay out but that's fine. I think the real issue is that you can't play as Nod, which is a travesty. Stupid GDI.

But Grace Park and Jennifer Morrison make up for this.

Oh you did not just say stupid GDI... The original C&C is my gaming roots. it was what got me started. I only play as GDI. The Brotherhood of Nod must fall. I will make sure of it. Downloading the demo now...

The best thing I can say is that EA did it. They made the best C&C game ever! Congratulations.

I think that this game is great. Played it just for a few minutes but loved it. The SAGE engine also looks fantastic. Buildings disintegrating into dust... wow.

Ill throw my 2 cents on the thread:

I think the game is awesome. C&C returned to its roots. Great FMV sequences and the combat is frantic as it used to be. This are the revisited things, which EA did right. Now, for the new ones. The SAGE engine looks absolutely great (though it still is an old engine). The special effects look great (specialle that heat distortion that comes from flaming vehicles). The building queue is a major improvement, specially when you have the Crane upgrade. All units have little individual special abilities (such as the Orca able to drop sensor pods, or the APC able to lay mines). I think that these are very welcome changes and give the game some more depth. Now, the BIG BIG point that EA scored is that they made this game in such a way that doesnt need a top-of-the-line rig to look great. Im running it on medium at 1024*768 at a constant 30 frames per second, and though im missing some details it still looks gorgeous.

There has been too much hype about C&C3, which is not a small thing since we were talking about a sequel to the game that set the bar for what RTS should be. I think (dont flame me) that EA managed to give us a game worthy of being in the C&C franchise. (Im saying this because I dont think that Generals should belong to the C&C franchise, even though the game was good)
