All right, I think this will be the first game I have ever pre-ordered, I usually am very patient and can wait before buying, but I am pretty hyped for this. I used to be an avid WoW fan so I am a fan of the MMO genre. Anyways, I'm probably going to go with Steam, can anyone give me any justification as to why I *may* want the collectors edition? From what steam said you get a special emote, title, etc...sounds lame... not worth 10 bucks? Also, how can I get into the beta that opens up in...3 days correct? Does just pre-ordering get me in?

If you're not positive you want it, you can just preorder it by putting 5 dollars down at Gamestop or Best Buy. You'll be able to play the open beta to see if it's fun for you, which starts Sunday. If you don't like it, you're only out 5 bucks, not 50-60. Just saying. It's a sure buy for me though, but I've already played it several times and know that I like it.

I didn't know about that, but in the end if you do get it, you're saying you will be paying $5 extra? not saying that's bad but, I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it, I've only watched about 500 videos on it already, lol. Also Fudgeblood, the EBgames one definately comes with a looot more stuff, don't some people think that some of that stuff is... a little OP though? higher HP/MP boost, and 40 seconds more flight time? (I heard many times flight was used strategically) I don't know, almost feels unfair that because someone bought CE their character becomes more advanced? I understand posters, and cd's etc, but boosting the character itself? :(

I agree it's kind've OP, but still, it's a good CE imo. The figurine looks awesome.

Heh, I actually just looked at the standard edition on Steam, comes with

  • 37 days of free play when the full game releases.
  • Access to beta and preview events
  • Special in-game items
    • Attribute Boosting Hat
    • Experience boosting Talisman
    • Exclusive special effects ring (Water)

Are the last 3 things the stat boosting things bought otherwise? If so I won't feel so jipped for saving 20 bucks. (I'm not too keen on posters/figurines etc. if anything was going to sell me to buying CE it'd be the in-game gear, and if this is the same stuff offered on steam, as said I'll keep my 20 bucks. Btw thanks for the fast responses so far guys.)

I guess it depends on how OP you want to be, but for a quick start into the game I'd go with the CE.

Biggest benefit of the Collector's Edition item-wise is that you get your level 30 wing upgrade for free (which costs a ton relative to your kinah gains at that level), and the special wings have an additional 10 seconds of flight time over the normal purchased ones.

Not sure how effective the EXP boost and all that other stuff is on the Steam CE page. Only other thing I really looked in to was the title, and the stat boost from it didn't seem too great for a Cleric.

Anyway, just so you know, all of the bonus items go to every character you ever create.

Can't you also buy the CE stuff off the website for 10 bucks standalone if you already bought the game?

Ok I'll try to set things straight here. The first 6 Items on this list come with the normal version of Aion. The soundtrack can be downlaoded for free off the Korean Aion website. The color dye you get is purple, which you can buy ingame anyways, and the 2 emotes are just dances that look kind of silly really. The Earing and the Title are nice but i don't think they will be that big of a deal. The huge reason for pre-ordering the CE is the Black CLoud Wings. Those wings are going to be so OP in PvP. So if you plan on doing alot of PvP I would get the CE, I sure as heck did.

I dont know if thats true or not but I assume that there is some kind of deal with it as it would be quite over powered
