Anyone know any tricks?BounceDKI can pull a rabbit out of an empty hat!
Seriously though I would like to know the answer to the question as well. I have the AA problem in Bioshock.
Yeah it works in Vista & DX10 but I'd rather avoid that as much as possible :) (I've got some major sound issues, stutters in games, no volume control when using Vista)I am not very sure but there are few things I read at some forum:-
(1) in vista it works properly with dx10 features
(2) in xp, try turning of the lighting and then force AA it through the control panel or nhancer

You are probably correct. I remember reading something like this when I was reading about UT3 on the PC.I think AA in the Unreal Engine 3.0 is only possible through DirectX 10.

Hey guys i have been looking at people in this forum who are having trouble enabling AA on DX9 Windows XP and looking at people saying it cannot be done, Guess what it can, i had the same problems enabling it in nvidia control panel and it not working in the demo or the game anyways the way to get it to work is to get drivercleaner and to start you pc in safe mode and unplug your network cable and disconnect from the T`internet. then uninstall the nvidia drivers in add or remove programs then use drivercleaner to make sure its completely gone. After this restart without safe mode while still being disconnected from the internet and then install the nvidia beta drivers 163.44 for Windows Xp, after this restart again and reconnect your internet and go into the nvidia control and force the AA setting to Override and application and set it to any level you wish, while still in the nvidia control panel change the analising transparency to supersampling and then press apply, you can also add the AF to what ever setting you wish as well. After you have done this start up bioshock and prepare for a jaggie free experience i have in game screenies of this in action and the links are below.
Oh BTW this is Windows XP DX9 Wooop
AFx16, No AA: http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bioshock2007afx16noaawr4.png
AFx16, AAx4 SuperSampled: http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bioshock2007afx16aax4suxh5.png
AFx16, AAx8 SuperSampled: http://img207.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bioshock2007afx16aax8qag1.png
This can be done in Windows XP with Direct X9 as my screenshots show, it can also be done by using Multisampling if your Graphics Card and PC cannot handle Supersampling :D , i did post this on another thread but it got locked because they want me to put it in the "Bioshock" thread where no one has even looked at my post lol

Leaving the Option at the bottom of the Graphics Setting (The Lighting One) does absolubly nothing as having it off is for higher Graphics cards and having it on is for lower graphics cards, it similar to the lighting option in stalker except it actually looks good when its on :D, but the off settings is the highest setting

I already tried something like that but it didnt work, one question though....why do you need to unplug the network cable?
Guess the engine sucks then. No AA? Errr ..BounceDK
it far from sucks..i run it in DX10 and its awesome. really well optimised. like i said, u dont even need AA. and this is comin from someone who cant play games without AA..changed my opinion. dont fool bioshock with somethin like R6:Vegas

Oh try this aswell go into the nvidia control panel and go into the part where you actually have to browse for the game and try doing it in there it may work, but should work already
I already tried something like that but it didnt work, one question though....why do you need to unplug the network cable?
I think its to stop windows going onto the net and getting some of the files back as if you have some old drivers in there it will try to get their files back lol, but i had about 3 old drivers in with my beta 1 and it didnt allow me to use forced AA but as soon as i did the steps above and re-installed the beta it worked instantly with 4xaa both multisampled and supersampled, not sure as to why its not working with you bounce :S should be, maybe its vista im not sure but it did work for me as ya can see in the screen shots

No you seem to miss a vital point: I do need AA to get rid of the damn jaggies, I truly hate them. + I got a crappymonitor. So I need it, bad.The UE3 has gotta support AA in DX9 if you force itbecause the XBOX 360 Offically has 2x AA lol thats why it doesnt look as bad as a pc with No AA and the XBOX 360 isnt DX10 :D
An yeh i agree with Bounce because the jaggies in the pc version are soo bad its distracting me and they distracted me less on a 360 but u sure as hell can see em on both systems unless you override it in CP then it looks even better

Well im not using vista....and dont you just need to press cancel when windows auto detects your video card and tries to get the drivers from the net by itself?

I dont think the Xbox 360 version of bioshock has AA neither, believe me i played it on my 1080p HDTV and it was the same jaggie fest as on my PC hehe.
With the drivers it will ask you to connect to the internet and get them but even if you cancel they can still go an get the drivers without you knowing, had it done to me before :S, the 360 version i think has 2xAA as im certain ive seen it on the internet and in a mag somewhere here in the UK, cant understand how you still cant get it to force it, its irratating me too now lol
Try looking in this forum post as im sure there are ways that work for some people but not for others dont know why though lol
http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4830&page=37
Also if its Vista then loads of people are not getting AA in it for some reason but people can get it in XP considering the guy who said UE3 only has AA in DX10 lol guess its vice versa
It's still a big mystery for me really. I've tried every driver possible, changed settings etc. but nothing works. Oh and look for my post in thread too hehe :) I refuse to believe that it can only be done in Vista. Then Epic are truly ball suckers.

[QUOTE="DaRockWilder"]You are probably correct. I remember reading something like this when I was reading about UT3 on the PC.No. I play Vegas with AA, so far Bioshock and MoH: Airborne are the only two I can't enable it in.I think AA in the Unreal Engine 3.0 is only possible through DirectX 10.

when you play in dx10 mode i've read it also puts on AA... people here are talking about AA in dx9 win xp... im using an ATI card so that guide above doesn't help me much... plus you have to pay for drivercleaner...[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"][QUOTE="DaRockWilder"]You are probably correct.
