So my question is if i already have this what else would i need to build a cpu

yeah take it out of your machine

your PC is probably sweating jsut trying to power your pc let alone its bottlenecking (artificially crippling) your hd 4890.

another possibility is that your prior owner set its fan speed up just simply load up msi afterburner (its a free program) and set the fan setting down. or in ati's catalyst control center (ccc)

heres what id recommend for a 350 dollar retrofit:

amd athalon II x2 245-250 regor

am3 motherboard

4gb ddr3

500 watts psu with appropriate number of connectors fort he 4890 (i believe two 6-pins)

there you can now play CRYSIS : WARHEAD on high (neverming swtor)

Phenom x4 955
AM3+ Mobo
600W PSU
4GB RAM

You'll be good to go.

You would have been better off with 2 2GB sticks of ram rather than 1 4GB stick.

I also wouldn't recommend that power supply, with power supplies you want good brands and i've never heard of that one.

The case is good though.

Its worth it to push your budget a little bit for a phenom x4 955 and a Corsair PSU.

The Haf 912 is a great choice, but get RAM that is 2x2GB instead of a single 4GB stick. Won't run in dual channel with a single stick.

So, in conclusion:

Corsair CX600W - $69

Phenom x4 955 - $119

2x2GB RAM

Haf 912

AM3+ Motherboard (AsRock, MSI, ASUS)

The power supply is a no brainer, only a couple bucks more and way better/reliable.

The CPU might be a little expensive for you, but you'll thank yourself after.

Other people have steered you in the right direction on here, But I must say someone gave you an HD4890... Thats no chump card! You won't have DX11, but you will be able to run DX10 games fantastically at pretty damn good settings provided you get another rig that would compliment that 4890.
