Old Hard Drive new Motherboard?

Im thinking about buying this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-080-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat= I was just wondering if i formatted my current hard drive, would it work with the new motherboard once everything was connected? I really dont want to have to buy a new hard drive and operating system. Thanks. also, please no comments about im getting ripped off ect. lol current specs windows vista 64bit g33m05 foxconn motherboard q6600 2.4ghz 6gig ddr2 ram nvidia geforce 560ti 1g 1 terabyte HD

1) formatting your drive will wipe your old OS, I hope you have the key

2) as for it being compatible, it depends on if your old HDD is IDE or SATA.
