I am on my 10th character and currently playing breton warrior and mage hybrid and feeling a litter bored. So out of curiosity i checked how many long i played skyrim and its says 568h and counting.I don't think i played any other game to that amount of times.Any ideas for extending the game a little more?like must have mods?

Also how many hours have you played skyrim?

I played it for about ten hours. I barely found enough depth to keep me entertained for one character. I don't know how you managed to make ten 10 characters, two seems enough to encompass just about all the games content and skills.

I`m also not so big fan of Skyrim. It is quite boring for me, but i like RPG very much. Gothic was more interesting

This, but I played far longer. Even with mods, couldn't be bothered to finish it.

Currently at 117 hours, lvl 45 Nord. Doing all the sidequests. Like Mythpro1 stated I took a break from it, finished Arkham City, then got back on the wagon. Loving it.

Didn't take long to find everything. Just about 120 hours. It felt worth it at first, but the game just got worse as it dragged on.

I've played it for 50 hours, and have not completed the main quest. I love the environment in the game but the story doesn't really interest me. Most of the side quests are more exciting than the main quests.

No i put 40 hours into it and i completed "most" of it. All the major quest chains, main quest, guild quests, explored some of the larger more unique dungeons. I guess i have not redone the "random" quests 2342344 times. Oh i also missed one of the... shrine quests because for some reason it would not spawn so i said screw it =(

I will probably play it again at some point. Once some more major mods get released... Its a fun action adventure game and its about 3-4 times longer then most games out there with (if you play on pc) more replayability.

People who are basing their entertainment-value on the amount of quests being completed-- aka they are grinding it out-- are playing it wrong.

I did the same thing for Fallout 3 and I wholesomely regret it, because I never took the time to explore the world and appreciate its design. Skyrim is very much the same; it's an immersive experience that requires the player to live their character and explore... not just have a checklist of quests to complete.

edit- 172 hours and counting.

Agreed, but even then, there's a limit to how much interesting content the game actually has.
For example, once you've done the main story quests and a heap of the side quests, you've seen pretty much all of the unique elements in the game.

You've seen all of the major locations, you've seen all of the environments, you've seen all of the enemy types, you've seen all of the hand-crafted adventuring scenarios (which are the best the game has to offer), you've seen more dragons than you'll ever want to see, you've talked to all of the interesting characters...everything following that won't feel new, fresh or exciting. It gets old fast.

Personally, I put 90 hours into it and feel absolutely no need to ever touch the game again.

I honestly don't see why anyone would want to play much more than that (since most of my 90 hours just involved screwing with the AI and trying to make my own fun). I also don't see why anyone would want to play through the game again with a new character (since nothing changes, and the game mostly ignores your attempts to roleplay).

Exploration ceased to be fun after the 30th random dragon fight.
Loot-hunting ceased to be fun once my character hit a reasonably high level and could tear through enemies with ease.
Questing ceased to be fun once you start digging into the side-quests, which are nowhere near as compelling as the main/guild ones.
Role-playing ceased to be fun once you realise that the game doesn't respond to who you are or what you do.

Considering all of those, why keep playing?

^this I am 72 hours in and loving it, still running on my first character, after beating that one mage close to the end of the main quest I put on his mask and stopped leveling two handed weapons and started leveling one hand and magic :D (it's a pretty sick mage mask)

I played Skyrim for about 500 hours in total, and loved every minute. I used a variety of different characters who focused on specific quest lines, along with exploring different regions, which worked really well. I only completed the main quest line with one character. I've yet to install any mods and go back to it, but I know that I will at some point.

Anyone who played the game for less than ten hours must have missed out on a lot of places to explore.

I played about 30 hours, got near the end of the main quest and did all the guilds apart from the dark brotherhood. I plan on going back and playing more at some point though. Too much I haven't seen.

the new game of thrones season might inspire me.

Steam says I have 94 hours played. I've made about 3 characters and installed over 30 mods. I still can't seem to get into it no matter how much I want to. The graphics and production value are very well done, but I just feel like I'm missing something with it. I always end up playing waiting for something to pull me into it. It's a weird feeling.

then what is? In oblivion it actually took a good deal longer, and the music was better.

The game's quest had a sense of urgency that I shud rush, so I did. If they made the enemies like lvl9999 well then I would be forced to explore a bit more and all that stuff.

Doing just the main quest isn't even scratching the surface of the content in the game. Heck, even each the guilds provide a campaign on their own. And there is still tons of side stuff to do beyond those. If you do not understand the concept of these games, that's fine. But don't blame the game for not giving you what it offers.

no

i do understand

but what is their logic to make the main quest just another average quest? That's dumb, much more effort should have been put there. They totally screwd up. Even when I played guild wars, that had a better ending than Skyrim, and that's a mmorpg

One word: Mods I have randomly generated field battles between factions in my game now, for example. I'm talking dozens to hundreds of NPCs charging Braveheart-sty1e in oven fields all randomly happening in the world.

I had this experience in Oblivion, and Fallout 3. For some reason, Skyrim doesn't have that. I really think Skyrim's main story and side quests are dull, along with its world. I wish this wasn't the case.

I'm up to 100 hours and still haven't seen a dragon. :-) Barely touched the main quest line. Just exploring caves and castles, doing side quests, etc. Low-key fun until Diablo comes out.

Could you toss me the name of that mod? It sounds great. I have something like it for Just Cause 2 that just about doubles the fun factor of the game.

I am not playing Skyrim right now but I know I will go back.

I played Oblivion for about 6 months. 3 characters with no mods, doing all the main and guild quests. Then I got mods and it made it a brand new game.

Skyrim I have done all but the Bards College and many side quests. Never been to 2 of the cities. Once more quality mods are released I will definitely go back.

For some, beating the main quest is enough. I have already made two of my own mods, one still in progress. Definitely got my moneys worth.

i got bored after 30, and got sick of it after 100.

considering how great the game could have been, it fell flat on it's face. oh well, at least there is morrowind

Yeah, winning multiple game of the year awards, getting great reviews all over the place and being one of the favorite games of many people like myself is worth nothing when a few nostalgia goggled neckbeards on the internet forums don't like it. LOL BETHESDA U FALL ON FACE !!11

It's easy to call out nostalgia when you never played Morrowind. Other than graphics and animations, Morrowind humiliates skyrim in every possible way. two, critics also think MW3 is a great shooter, so i don't give a fvck what they think

I have played all of the Elder Scrolls games. Morrowind was worse in just about every way except it had a bigger world with more exploration fun and it had better RPG depth. But the magic system was bad, the combat was incredibly awful and based entirely on invisible dice and it looks pretty dated these days.

Morrowind not only had better exploration and more depth. It's writing and quests far surpass skyrim's pathetic counterpart. The map is much more memorable and unique. Morrowind does not have any level scaling, which means that the leveling and difficulty are not hopelessly broken. morrowind had much more weapons and armour. morrowind's ui is not a disaster on a screen. In the end, that's everything that matters in such a game.

while skyrim might have had tighter combat, it was still awful. More-so they have removed all the depth and dumbed it down to such a level that it sticks out like a sore thumb.
